And nobody can buy or sell except the person having the mark, the name of the wild beast and the number of its name

    MESSAGE BIBLE
( it doesn’t have individual scriptures numbers so I’ll write from 13-17 as they do that )
The second beast worked magical signs dazzling people by making fire come down from heaven. it used magic it got from the beast to dupe the earth dwellers getting them to make a image of the beast that received the death blow and lived. it was able to animate the image of the Beast so that it talked , and then arrange that anyone not worshipping the Beast so that it talked and then arrange that anyone not worshipping the Beast will be killed. It forced all people small and great rich and poor free and slave to have a mark of the name It was impossible to buy or sell.

Keep in mind if the buying and selling is of the spiritual meaning..then the killing may also be of spiritual killing.
But I’m aware that it may also be both...literal and physical.....I guess it’s a wait and see job.

The Vision of Truth Will Not Tarry

“The vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
    —Habakkuk 2:3

HABAKKUK SERVED ISRAEL’S two-tribe kingdom of Judah as a prophet shortly before it was taken into captivity to Babylon. The nation was in a state of chaos at the time, and the book which bears Habakkuk’s name presents his message to a considerable extent in the form of a dialogue, in which we find the prophet asking questions and receiving answers from the Lord.

Habakkuk’s first inquiry of the Lord pertains to the situation in Judah by which he was surrounded. We quote: “O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.”—Hab. 1:2-4

Here we sense the bitter anguish of Habakkuk, brought about to a large extent by the fact that it seemed as though the Lord was doing nothing about the evil that was rampant in the nation. As we reflect upon this we can sense in it the feeling of God’s righteous people throughout all the ages, even to the present moment, as they likewise have endeavored to understand why God has permitted so much evil and injustice to continue in the earth. The subject of why God permits evil has had a prominent place in the minds and hearts of all who would like to see conditions in the earth better than they have been.

God replied to Habakkuk on this point. “Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans [Babylonians], that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.”—vss. 5-10; Isa. 13:19; 47:1

Here the Lord explains to Habakkuk that he is not overlooking the intolerably wicked situation in Judah, and that he does propose to do something about it. He explains that he will take action against this iniquity in Habakkuk’s own lifetime. This in itself could have provided some measure of comfort for the prophet, for he had asked the Lord, “How long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!” Though Habakkuk did receive assurance that action would be taken against the wickedness in Judah, he still did not understand just what the Lord was doing, or why.

    HABAKKUK’S QUESTION
Not grasping the full import of what the Lord had said concerning the Chaldeans, a “bitter and hasty nation,” visiting trouble upon Judah, Habakkuk asked, “Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?”—Hab. 1:12-14

Habakkuk’s problem now was to understand why God would use a people more wicked even than the people of Judah to punish them. In his inquiry concerning this he stresses the Lord’s holiness. God, he said, was his “Holy One.” Yet, the prophet wondered as to the method the Lord said he would use to put down the wicked situation that existed in Judah. After extending the details of his question throughout the remainder of the chapter, Habakkuk continues, “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.”—Hab. 2:1

Once Habakkuk properly concluded that he should “watch” for God’s direction of these matters rather than question and complain about them, the answer to the prophet was readily given. He says, “The Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”—vss. 2-4

This was God’s answer to Habakkuk as to why he would use the wicked Babylonians to punish Judah. Actually, so far as the immediate present was concerned, it was no answer at all. However, what the Lord really does in his reply is to lift the controversy out of its local setting and give it a world-wide application. In the answer it is also indicated that only the just, on the basis of faith, will be able to understand, appreciate, and live by this answer.

The “vision” referred to in the answer is that great vision of truth which began to unfold when God said that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent’s head, and was amplified by his promise to Abraham: “In thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” (Gen. 3:15; 22:18; 28:14) This was the great vision of truth that permeated the prophecies of the Old Testament. Included within this great plan of the ages to destroy all evil are all the individual and collective institutions—including Satan himself—through which mankind has suffered because of sin. Only when this vision is understood is the answer seen clearly as to why God permitted evil.

The Lord explained to Habakkuk that this vision was for an appointed time. The prophet could not expect to understand it then, “but at the end it shall speak, and not lie.” Though it may seem to tarry, God explains, “wait for it”—the vision will surely come in due time, and will not tarry. If Habakkuk’s faith was able to grasp this assurance, which doubtless it was, he received a great comfort from it because it would assure him that while he could not understand the meaning of all that God was doing at that time, there was an explanation which would be forthcoming when “at the end” the vision spoke.

The King James Version reads, speaking of the vision, “It will surely come, it will not tarry.” The Greek Septuagint version renders it, “Though he may tarry, wait for him; for he will assuredly come and will not fail.” The use of the pronoun “he” in the Greek Septuagint emphasizes that fundamental to this great vision of truth is the fact that there is a personality associated with it—the great Christ, the Messiah of promise.

    NEW TESTAMENT CONFIRMATION
The Apostle Paul, who so faithfully preached the gospel of Christ, understood the significance of the vision promised to Habakkuk from this standpoint. He wrote to the Hebrew Christians, “Ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith.” (Heb. 10:36-38) This vision of truth was the sole focus of Paul’s mission as a minister of Christ.

How comforting it is to us today to realize, through the fulfillment of many Bible prophecies, we are living in the time when God’s great vision of truth is speaking even more clearly than in Paul’s day. Because of this those who are faithfully watching now understand why God permits evil. They know also that the end of the reign of sin and death is drawing very near, and in that also they rejoice. With the end of the reign of sin and death there will come a time of joy and happiness when there shall be no more death, sorrow, crying, nor even any pain. (Rev. 21:1-4) How glorious to be living in the time when the vision is speaking. While the time has not arrived as yet, we know that it is drawing near when, as the Prophet Habakkuk later recorded, “The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”—Hab. 2:14

    HABAKKUK’S PRAYER
Much in the second and third chapters of Habakkuk is denunciation against wickedness and wicked people. In verse 20 of chapter 2, however, God gives us assurance that he has not lost control over the permission of evil. We read: “The Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.” How reassuring it is to realize that no matter how much evil flourishes throughout the earth, God has not lost control of the situation!

Habakkuk sensed that, despite all that the Lord had threatened and the review of wickedness which he presented, in due time God’s vision would speak. Then the great Messiah of promise, together with his associates, would establish peace and righteousness throughout the earth, which would then be filled with an accurate knowledge and understanding of the Lord and his plan.

However, Habakkuk, like many of God’s righteous people through the ages, was impatient. He knew that the Lord was capable of taking full control of the situation any time he wished, and could not see the need for waiting for some future day for this to happen. Thus we have his prayer, “O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”—Hab. 3:2

First in Habakkuk’s prayer was his acknowledgment of fear when God revealed to him the calamities that would soon come upon the nation. Perhaps he felt that he could not endure even the sight of what this would involve, so he prayed to the Lord, “Revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.” In other words, he seemed to be asking God not to wait for some distant future time in which to reveal himself through the vision that would then speak. The prophet’s expression may have been a request for the Lord to take hold of the evil situation in the world right then, bring it to an end, and establish righteousness. Why delay such a glorious outcome? Habakkuk may have thought.

This, however, was not the Lord’s will. He knew that there were yet millions of people to be brought into the world who would benefit from the experience of evil. He knew that he had the ability when the time came, through the kingdom of the Messiah, to restore those who had suffered and died in the interim, and that together all would receive of his blessing when his glory would fill the earth.

    HABAKKUK SPEAKS AGAIN
After learning of all the calamities which the Lord would visit upon the wicked, Habakkuk, said, “When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.”—Hab. 3:16

Despite Habakkuk’s distress and foreboding, he maintained his trust in God and expressed his assurance that no matter what happened, he would rejoice in the Lord. “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”—vss. 17,18

How sublime is this expression of trust in the Lord! It is the more wonderful when we realize that previous to this Habakkuk had declared himself to be afraid because of what he had heard God say. His “belly trembled,” his “lips quivered” at the voice of the Lord. “Rottenness” entered into his bones, and he “trembled.” He had expressed a desire to “rest in the day of trouble,” evidently referring to rest in the sleep of death.

While not much is known about Habakkuk’s personal life, he is thought to have been a farmer. In his expression of trust in the Lord he refers to essentially all the things with which a farmer would be concerned. His fig trees might fail; there might be no fruit on the vine; the labor of the olive might fail, and the fields would yield no meat; the flocks would be cut off from the fold; there would be no herd in the stalls. With all these things occurring in a farmer’s life there would seem to be not much left for which to live, but despite this Habakkuk said, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”

It is a joy to worship and serve God under favorable conditions, but the real test of our faith in him and devotion to him results from adversity. In Habakkuk we have a wonderful example of what should be our attitude when the Lord permits trials and tests to come upon us. If we rejoice in the abundance of good things which he supplies today, will we also rejoice in the God of our salvation tomorrow, when perhaps some of these good things are removed? We should be able to, especially since we are living in the time when the vision of truth is speaking, and the presence of the Son of man is enabling us to see the glory of God’s glorious plan—“the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”—Eph. 3:11

    Hello Sisser,
That’s what my young great great grandsons call their new-born sister. Yes, that’s correct: great-great!
She is named after the capital city of SA. I’ve read a little bit of Russell’s writings. He was quite a remarkable man. He had the courage to stand up to all the ridicule. We all make mistakes, and we probably would not be where we are today, if it had not been for his understanding of the Bible.
I also want to thank you for all of the posts you took the time to share with all of us.

I, for one, resisted Bible teachings for quite a while. The Ah ha moment came when a pioneer sister explained who Jehovah was, who Jesus was, and all the other truths in the Bible. I told her that was what I had believed when I was searching for the truth all that time.
Yeah, this is sort of explaining my search for truth. That is; if truth is a female. :p:p:p

There are many who have their idea about the “number of the beast”. I was told that 666 represents the number of humans. The number 6 is one less than 7, which is the number of completion/perfection. So, we miss the mark. Then, there are others that have their own idea. This being a time that seems to be close to the “end time”, the current president of the USA has a building in New York
City with an address of 666 Broadway.

I don’t think I will be around during that “end time”. It will be a trying time period. I get some feed back for my stand here in the USA. I refuse to participate in their rituals. Even though I served in their military, I will not salute, or give recognition to their religious symbols. I also will not participate in their political system. I have shared my thoughts about their election system by referring them to Luke 4:5-7. I chose to follow the instruction given in verse 8. “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” ( Lu 4:8 NIV ) :D

Aaaah...yes I know her name well.....we do not have that many capitals over here....and I certainly hope truth is not female...:rolleyes:..that wouldn’t sit very well with me at all..hahaha....I too probably owe my life ( spiritual ) to a elderly sister who found me on the doors....the angels found you Bro T....they maneuvered you...lol...all of us actually...
I have spent the last few years reading a lot of Russell....your right...he had a lot of things wrong but so so much unbelievably right...and as time has marched on his accuracy on certain things or attitudes is amazing....other things not so much...
He was a big mover when he corrected the trinity....hence my interest in who he would have listened to in his time...Spurgeon ...Wesley.( off course he would not have listened to him but read him)..etc....they were all reformers....each century seem to produce them...gradually you can see how the movement out of BTG started.....I know your happy that pioneer sister found you and your wife....but she also would have thought you two such a huge blessing in her life....

Interesting quote that one...” miss the mark “.....certainly a never ending topic for discussion and thought...
I do feel for you American brothers and sisters as you are far more religious and politically minded than us down under..(but also our Chinese and Korean brothers and sisters too) as you have so many festivals to take a stand on than us....a decade ago we never ever dreamed of celebrating valentines or Halloween..it was just unheard of...now they are very big,.
As far as you taking your stand...on such things....it will always leave a lasting imprint on an inquiring heart.....but you will probably never know of it....
I really really Hope you and Mrs T do survive thru to the other side....but I’m actually not expecting to either ...
Just imagine what it would be like to do that ....those that survive that time period would be patriarchs of the old world in the New world....amazing really......,

Bro Russell was definitely given insight not only to understand the rightful place of Jesus and the strength to defend his rightfully earned place and separate spirit being that he was from Jehovah and therefore deny the demon inspired teaching of the trinity.
Yet he also had a deep understanding of the anointed class that would serve with Jesus as kings ...not everything was made clear to him at this time...just as the apostles had not a clue or understanding about Jesus death even tho he told them many times of it and the scriptures foretold it.
It appears that no one man is ever given all knowledge at any given time....but this is a good talk ..that also shows Russelll clearly never ever said the ark represented the organization.....I think that wrong belief came in with Rutherford and has happily now been corrected...and we have reverted back to Russell’s understanding ...tho I do still read and hear it now and then...

Judah, his Daughter-in-law Tamar, and the Levirate Marriage

    Genesis 38

Judah, his Daughter-in-law Tamar, and the Levirate Marriage

Judah married and his wife gave birth to three sons. They were named Er, Onan & Shelah. Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a man of Adullam named Hirah. Genesis 38:1

Around the time that the Midianites arrived in Egypt and sold Joseph as a slave to Potiphar, Judah went from Hebron, where Jacob and his sons had settled, down to Adullam. It seems that Judah was so disturbed by the actions of his father, who favored Joseph, and the actions of his brothers, who wanted to kill Joseph, that he wanted to separate himself from them. Adullum would be the future location of David's memorable victory over Goliath. David would also find protection from King Saul in the Cave of Adullum along with 400 men who were in debt, distress or discontent, who gathered around him.

There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and made love to her; she became pregnant and gave birth to a son, who was named Er. She conceived again and gave birth to a son and named him Onan. She gave birth to still another son and named him Shelah. It was at Kezib that she gave birth to him. Genesis 38:2-5

While living in Adullum, Judah married Shua’s daughter who gave birth to his firstborn son Er. Er is spelled with the Hebrew letters ahyin and resh and means watchman. According to the Targum of Jonathan (a rabbinic explanation of the Hebrew Scriptures written in Aramaic) is that this son was named Er, “because he should die without children.” The Hebrew word Ariri, means “childless.”

Judah’s second son was named Onan which means strong. Even if he grew to be physically strong, Onan would prove to be morally weak.

They moved to Kezib which is a town in the plain of Judah and means “falsehood.” Shelah which means “prosperity” or “plunder” was their third son and he was born in Kezib.
Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. Genesis 38:6

The name Tamar comes from the Hebrew noun (tamar), meaning palm tree which is a symbol of prosperity. The first part of Psalm 92:12 tells us that, “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree.” Tamar’s name was indicative of her righteous character.

But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death. Genesis 38:7

Since the Messiah would descend from Judah’s lineage, the wicked Er was put to death before he could father a child.

Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” Genesis 38:8

Unlike the modern day rabbinical tradition that claims the mother determines the child’s religion; biblically it is the father who determines a child’s religion.

Numerous Israelites heroes and kings besides Judah married foreign women. For example, Joseph married an Egyptian, Moses a Midianite and an Ethiopian, David an Aramean, and Solomon women of every description. By her marriage with an Israelite man a foreign women joined the clan, people, and religion of her husband and their children were considered Israelites.

Although Judah married a Canaanite, his sons had to obey the practices of the Hebrews.

According to Leviticus 18:16, the Torah forbids a man from having sexual relations with his brother’s wife, “Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother.” But a married woman is only bound to her husband as long as he is alive.

For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. Romans 7:2

When Judah told his son Onan to fulfill his duty to her as a brother-in-law, Judah was referring to a practice that later would be commanded in the Torah known as the Levirate Marriage:

If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her. The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel. Deuteronomy 25:5-6

The Levirate Marriage would serve to both preserve the family name and inheritance of the deceased husband as well as provide for his widow. If a woman’s husband died and she had no son, she had no one to provide for her any longer and she would not only be disgraced, but likely to die of starvation.

But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also. Genesis 38:9-10

Onan’s responsibility was not only to marry his deceased brother’s wife but to provide an heir for his brother that would carry on Er’s name. He was now the oldest son in a tribe that was supposed to be fruitful and multiply in fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham. As the heir of Judah, he was destined to one day become the tribe's spiritual and moral leader. Onan did not want to be disgraced so he married Tamar and had relationship with her, but he didn’t want to raise Tamar’s child. Onan's sin was in purposely disobeying his father and denying his wife the opportunity of conceiving a child. His rebellious actions resulted in his being put to death by the LORD.

Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s household until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.” So Tamar went to live in her father’s household. After a long time Judah’s wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timnah, to the men who were shearing his sheep, and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went with him. Genesis 38:11-12

Judah's concern was that Tamar might be cursed and Shelah might die if married to her, and so he told her to wait until Shelah had grown up. After a long time Judah’s wife had died. Enough time had passed for Shelah to be old enough to marry. Although Tamar had waited many years, Judah neglected to marry Shelah to her. Shelah who was born in Kezib which means “falsehood” was falsely promised by Judah to marry Tamar.

Judah travelled with his friend to Timnah which was city in the tribe of Judah about six miles from Adullam.

When Tamar was told, “Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep,”she took off her widow’s clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife. Genesis 38:13-14

Had Judah been honest with Tamar by letting her know that he had no intention of having her marry his surviving son, she could have married someone else instead of living as a widow in her father’s house for many years. Now that she realizes that Judah had deceived her, she disguised herself so that Judah would not recognize her and she sat down in a place where Judah would be sure to pass by.

When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, “Come now, let me sleep with you.”
“And what will you give me to sleep with you?” she asked.

“I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” he said. Genesis 38:15-17a

Because a woman was sitting by herself at the entrance of a town with a veil covering her face, Judah assumed that she was a prostitute. Obviously, it was Tamar’s intention to deceive Judah into believing that she was willing to accept payment in order to have him sleep with her. He was willing to set the price which was a young goat from his flock.

“Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?” she asked.

He said, “What pledge should I give you?”

“Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand,” she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him. Genesis 38:17b-18

Judah’s pledge of his seal and staff not only identified that they belonged to him, but also have natural purposes and symbolic significance. A seal in biblical times was used to guarantee security or indicate ownership. Ancient seals were often made of wax, embedded with the personalized imprint of their guarantor. Both the seller and the buyer of land had to affix their seal to the deed to testify to the transaction. A staff supports the hand and arm, and through them the whole body. Therefore the staff signifies power and authority as does a scepter.

Judah, who had the authority to have Shelah marry Tamar and provide an heir to guarantee that Er would have descendants to inherit the land, failed to fulfill his pledge. So Tamar orchestrated a plan in which she receives Judah’s seal and staff as a pledge. These tokens symbolize that she has been given the authority to insure that Er would have an heir to carry on his name and that the territory of Judah would carry over to his descendants. Tamar intentionally sought to be impregnated by Judah in order to provide that heir.

After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow’s clothes again. Genesis 38:19

Tamar’s purpose having been fulfilled put on her widow’s clothes and returned to her father’s household.

Meanwhile Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her. He asked the men who lived there, “Where is the shrine prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?”

“There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here,” they said.

So he went back to Judah and said, “I didn’t find her. Besides, the men who lived there said, ‘There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here.’” Genesis 38:20-22

Tamar had sat for such a short time at the entrance to the town, and had not returned to where she sat by the side of the road, that she went unnoticed by the other men.

Then Judah said, “Let her keep what she has, or we will become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you didn’t find her.” Genesis 38:23

If Judah or his friend were to ask any more questions around town, they might raise suspicions. Judah did not want to be exposed as a man who frequents prostitutes or become known as being foolish enough to be duped out of his seal and staff.

About three months later Judah was told, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result she is now pregnant.”

Judah said, “Bring her out and have her burned to death!” Genesis 38:24

Judah demands that his daughter-in-law be put to death because she was guilty of prostitution. Yet, Judah paid to sleep with whom he believed to be a prostitute. Judah is acting as he is righteously indignant when he is really being a self-deceived hypocrite.

As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. “I am pregnant by the man who owns these,” she said. And she added, “See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are.”

Judah recognized them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not sleep with her again. Genesis 38:25-26

Tamar did not have to say one word in her own defense. She had waited quietly and patiently for many years hoping that Judah would fulfill his promise. Judah had kept Shelah from marrying Tamar because he falsely believed she was cursed and it was her fault that his first two sons had died. He failed to recognize that they were evil. Tamar was indeed more righteous than Judah.

The act of incest was never again to be repeated by Judah. There is no indication in the biblical genealogies that Judah remarried, or if he did, he never fathered any other children.

When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand; so the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist and said, “This one came out first.” But when he drew back his hand, his brother came out, and she said, “So this is how you have broken out!” And he was named Perez. Then his brother, who had the scarlet thread on his wrist, came out. And he was named Zerah. Genesis 28:27-30

The name “Perez” means to breach or break fourth. He was named this because he was born first, even though his twin brother had stuck his hand out first. The name “Zerah” means “sunrise.” He was named Zerah because the color of the sun at sunrise is red like the scarlet thread that was tied on his wrist.

Tamar was the wife of Er, the son of Judah. After Er's death she becomes the mother of Judah's twin sons Perez and Zerah. Perez went on to become the ancestor of King David, and thus Jesus Christ. Tamar is the first of four women, besides Mary the mother of Jesus, mentioned in the Matthew’s genealogy of Christ.

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar Matthew 1:3a

Tamar, it would seem, was a daughter of the Canaanites, like her mother-in-law. Although Tamar had committed incest with her father-in-law, it was not out of lust but out of a righteous desire to preserve the line of Judah.

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Matthew 1:5a

Although Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute living in Jericho, Rahab had a reverent fear of Yehovah. Hebrews 11:31 tells us: By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.

Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth Matthew 1:5b

Although Ruth was a despised Moabitess, and the Moabites were forbidden to enter into the congregation of the Lord for ten generations, Ruth chose to be identified with the God of Israel and was recognized as a virtuous woman.

David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife Matthew 1:6b

Bathsheba had been the wife of Uriah the Hittite and had committed adultery with King David. She is not noted for having the faith of Rahab, or having the beautiful traits of Ruth. But in spite of the dishonor that stained her name, Bathsheba was chosen by God in the sovereignty of His grace to bring forth a child to sit upon David's throne and be in the line of Israel's Messiah.

Just as these women were blessed to be in the line of Messiah in spite of their nationality or sinful acts, but by the grace of the God of Israel; so can anyone receive God’s gift of eternal life by His grace and through faith in Messiah’s atoning death and resurrection.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Today I was asked by someone to explain why we don’t celebrate birthdays...she was genuinely interested....she said she was at ease asking me as I don’t act like a Jovo.....haha....I said...well you don’t act like a catholic:p
So I’m not going to go to our Publications but to other faiths and the written historical accounts.
Mainly because she would take more serious interest in the information if it doesn’t come from Jovo’s.....that’s what we are called in my neck of the woods....so out of interest I’ll post up some of what I find...
The wonders of internet!!!!! I for one didn’t know it was a highly esteemed celebration of satanist....I always thought Halloween was number one...

SATANIC BIBLE & BIRTHDAYS, THE IDOLATRY OF SELF ESTEEM THE HIGHEST OF SATAN'S HOLY DAYS/HOLIDAYS

SWRB does not necessarily endorse anything outside or beyond the testimony against the pagan practice of birthday keeping in, or from, any of the information or sources quoted in this blog. There is an affinity of such commemoration among the wicked as recorded in The Satanic Bible (Anton LaVey, (Air) Book of Lucifer – The Enlightenment, Avon Books, 1969, Ch XI, Religious Holidays, p. 96) regarding Birthdays:

"The highest of all holidays in the Satanic religion is the date of one’s own birthday. This is in direct contradiction to the holy of holy days of other religions, which deify a particular god who has been created in an anthropomorphic form of their own image, thereby showing that the ego is not really buried. The Satanist feels: ‘Why not really be honest and if you are going to create a god in your image, why not create that god as yourself." Every man is a god if he chooses to recognize himself as one. So, the Satanist celebrates his own birthday as the most important holiday of the year. After all, aren’t you happier about the fact that you were born than you are about the birth of someone you have never even met? Or for that matter, aside from religious holidays, why pay higher tribute to the birthday of a president or to a date in history than we do to the day we were brought into this greatest of all worlds? Despite the fact that some of us may not have been wanted, or at least were not particularly planned, we’re glad, even if no one else is, that we’re here! You should give yourself a pat on the back, buy yourself whatever you want, treat yourself like the king (or god) that you are, and generally celebrate your birthday with as much pomp and ceremony as possible."

    http://www.mashiyach.com/Misc/birthdays.htm

It is interesting that birthdays are considered the most important holiday to these Satan worshipers (the founding of their “church”, called Walpurgisnacht, and Halloween are the other ones of importance to them).

Of course, early Christians did not celebrate birthdays nor did the early Jews. Nor have real Christians ever celebrated Halloween.

    http://www.cogwriter.com/news/doctrine/the-satanic-bible-and-birthdays/

Origen of Alexandria, writing over two centuries after the death of Jesus follows this same line when he recorded a diatribe against the memories of birthdays, indicating that at the time of his writing, a day to remember the birth of Jesus was not part of the church calendar. In his Homilies on Leviticus, speaking on the aspect of birth, Origen states:
. . . not one from all the saints is found to have celebrated a festive day or a great feast on the day of his birth. No one is found to have had joy on the day of the birth of his son or daughter. Only sinners rejoice over this kind of birthday. For indeed we find in the Old Testament Pharaoh, king of Egypt, celebrating the day of his birth with a festival, and in the New Testament, Herod. However both of them stained the festival of his birth by shedding human blood. . . . But the saints not only do not celebrate a festival on their birth days, but, filled with the Holy Spirit, they curse that day (, after the example of Job, Jeremiah and David).

    (Barkley, Homilies on Leviticus: 1–16 / Origen, 156.)http://firstfollowers.vision.org/public/blog/170001?archive=Weekly+.2007-50 & http://snipurl.com/8zkwz [books_google_ca]

What is the origin of birthday celebrations?

Birthday celebrations are actually rooted in paganism.

    Encyclopedia Americana (1991) states:

"The ancient world of Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Persia celebrated the birthdays of gods, kings, and nobles."

Authors Ralph and Adelin Linton reveal the underlying reason for this. In their book The Lore of Birthdays, they write:

"Mesopotamia and Egypt, the cradles of civilization, were also the first lands in which men remembered and honoured their birthdays. The keeping of birthday records was important in ancient times principally because a birth date was essential for the casting of a horoscope."

So, there is a direct connection between the Pagan practice of birthday celebrations and astrology (horoscopes and fortune telling).

Not surprisingly then, the ancient Jews did not celebrate birthdays, regarding them as Pagan.

Also, World Book Encyclopedia (3:416) states:

"The early Christians did not celebrate His [Christ's] birth because they considered the celebration of anyone's birth to be a pagan custom."

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_origin_of_birthday_celebrations

Down to the fourth century Christianity rejected the birthday celebration as a pagan custom.

    http://www.abcog.org/birthday.htm

To satiate this point, notice also the record of the first century historian Josephus: The Jews in Christ’s day knew God’s attitude toward birthday celebrations, “Nay, indeed, the law does not permit us to make festivals at the births of our children” (Josephus, Against Apion, II:26).

http://ow.ly/eVu75History of celebration of birthdays in the West

It is thought that the large-scale celebration of birthdays in Europe began with the cult of Mithras, which originated in Persia but was spread by soldiers throughout the Roman Empire. Before this, such celebrations were not common; and, hence, practices from other contexts such as the Saturnalia were adapted for birthdays. (Wikipedia. Birthdays. July 12, 2007).

Christmas is also relevant because December 25th was the day of celebration of the birthday of the sun-god Mithra.

    ... World Book Encyclopedia notes,

Christmas... In 354 A.D., Bishop Liberius of Rome ordered the people to celebrate on December 25. He probably chose this date because the people of Rome already observed it as the Feast of Saturn, celebrating the birthday of the sun (Sechrist, Christmas, Vol. 3, 1966, pp. 408-417).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday

Long ago, the average person never paid any attention whatsoever to the anniversary of their birth. The initial pattern that developed concerned the celebrating of the birthday of their deity, once each year, at the winter solstice. This is the origin of Christmas, since the winter solstice was considered the "re-birth" or "birthday" of the solar deity (Natalis Sol Invictus, or the Nativity of Sol, the unconquerable). This alone marks the behavior as originating from the rebellion against YaHUaH, Who is the one and only Elohim of Heaven and Earth. Remember that YaHUaH commanded that we not learn the ways of the heathen (Dt. 12). Later, people began to celebrate the annual birth of their king at the same time as their deity, aligning their ruler with the same honors given to their deity. In their minds, their ruler became an anthropomorphic version of their deity. In the east, average people slowly began to celebrate their personal "birth day" once each year on what they believed to be "new year's day." Eventually, people developed the custom of observing their personal birth day on the annual day they were actually born.

    http://www.fossilizedcustoms.com/birthday.html

Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church. Irenaeus and Tertullian omit it from their lists of feasts; Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday; Arnobius (VII, 32 in P.L., V, 1264) can still ridicule the "birthdays" of the gods.

    http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03724b.htm

In their essay titled "Birthdays, Jewishly," Lisa Farber Miller and Sandra Widener point out that the Encyclopedia Judaica is very blunt on this topic:

"The celebration of birthdays is unknown in traditional Jewish ritual."

... Originally, even as more and more Gentiles began to profess Christ (so much so that they outnumbered those of Jewish heritage that did), the early Gentile leaders also did not endorse the celebration of birthdays. No early church writer endorsed the observance of birthdays by Christians, nor are they ever listed in the early observances of the Christian church.

Therefore, the celebration of birthdays, was clearly not part of "the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3).

No early religious/church writing from the second century that I have seen (and I have read most that are available) seems to endorse (or even suggest) the celebration of birthdays by any who professed Christ.

Although he was not part of the Church of God, the writings of the early third century Catholic theologian Origen of Alexandria show that, even that late, Orthodox Catholics were against the celebration of birthdays. The Catholic Encyclopedia states:

Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday (M.C. Christmas, 1908).

    http://www.cogwriter.com/birthdays.htm

Christmas is coming! Quite so: but what is "Christmas?" Does not the very term itself denote it's source - "Christ-mass." Thus it is of Roman origin, brought over from paganism. But, says someone, Christmas is the time when we commemorate the Savior's birth. It is? And WHO authorized such commemoration? Certainly God did not. The Redeemer bade His disciples "remember" Him in His death, but there is not a word in scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, which tells us to celebrate His birth. Moreover, who knows when, in what month, He was born? The Bible is silent thereon. It is without reason that the only "birthday" commemorations mentioned in God's Word are Pharaoh's (Gen. 40:20) and Herod's (Matt. 14:6)? Is this recorded "for our learning?" If so, have we prayerfully taken it to heart?

For many years I thought we were a bit fanatical when it came to birthdays...I missed sooo many good parties when I was younger and even some when I am now much older.
At times I was a bit shaky on my stand over them..even embarrassed at times...but boy I’m so happy I at least took that stand .
It was searching the internet in the last decade or so that helped me stand firmly but I had no idea that it was the most esteemed of all holidays for satanist....
I do not have a satanic bible nor do I wish to....but apparently page 96 relates the significance of birthdays
( Iv’e got no idea why all this print is in large block letters.) o_O

    Should we celebrate Birthdays?

Celebrating people’s birthdays is NEVER taught in Holy Scripture!

We should NEVER partake in any custom or tradition that does not have an origin in Father Yahweh and Scripture! For to do so, is partaking in Satan’s and Pagan customs and traditions instead, and that is an ABOMINATION to Father in heaven!

Though you look in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, you will find NO mention anywhere of any of the children of Yahweh observing their birthdays, or observing anyone’s birthday. In fact, even the exact date of the birth of our Messiah is NOWHERE REVEALED in Scripture![IMG]

We read in the Encyclopedia Judaica, “The celebration of birthdays is unknown in traditional Jewish ritual” (vol.4, p.1054). It points out that the only reference to a birthday in the Bible is that of Pharaoh of Egypt.

According to Funk & Wagnalls Standard Dictionary of Folklore, Mythology, and Legend, these Birthday celebrations originated from the belief that on a person’s birthday, “evil spirits and influences have the opportunity to attack the celebrants” and that “the presence of friends and the expression of good wishes help to protect the celebrant.” The book The Lore of Birthdays says that in ancient times, birthday records were “essential for the casting of a horoscope” based on “the mystic science of astrology.” This book adds that “birthday candles, in folk belief, are endowed with special magic for granting wishes.”

The Bible, however, condemns the use of magic, witchcraft, sorcery, divination, spiritism, or “anything like this.” (Deu 18:14, Gal 5:19-21). In fact, one reason why Yahweh condemned the ancient city of Babylon was that its inhabitants practiced astrology, which is a form of divination. (Isa 47:11-15)

The early followers of Yahshua did not celebrate birthdays, in any shape or form, so if they did not, we should not either!

The World Book Encyclopedia says that “they considered the celebration of anyone’s birth to be a pagan custom.” The Bible shows that the apostles and others who were taught directly by Yahshua established a pattern that all true followers should follow, 2 Thess 3:6.

If the very day of Yahshua’s birth is deliberately left out of the Bible, doesn’t that fact tell us something? If birthdays should be celebrated, why did Yahweh leave the date of His own Son’s birth out of Holy Scripture?

The plain truth is that birth day celebrations are only mentioned twice in the Scriptures — once in the Old Testament and once in the New Testament – and both times in reference to customs being observed by unconverted, PAGAN people — an Egyptian Pharaoh, and wicked king Herod!

You never find a single instance of any Holy people of Yahweh celebrating birthdays.

So, Holy people of Yahweh should NEVER partake in Pagan celebrations and traditions, it’s an abomination to our Father in heaven! Yet in Satanism, celebrating Birthdays is a high priority and the highest of all holidays! So if you partake in your own or someone else’ birthday, you are honouring SATAN’S holy days, not honouring the Creator at all!

You never find a single instance of any Holy people of Yahweh celebrating birthdays. Birthdays have NO biblical origin whatsoever, contrary, birthdays has anti-biblical origins:

[…] “the origins of birthday celebrations lie in the realm of magic and religion. The customs of offering congratulations, presenting gifts and celebrating—complete with lighted candles—in ancient times were meant to protect the birthday celebrant from the demons and to ensure his security for the coming year […] Down to the fourth century people rejected the birthday celebration as a Pagan custom.” – Schwäbische Zeitung (magazine supplement Zeit und Welt), April 3/4, 1981, p. 4.

“The Greeks believed that everyone had a protective spirit or demon who attended his birth and watched over him in life. This spirit had a mystic relation with the god on whose birthday the individual was born. The Romans also subscribed to this idea […] This notion was carried down in human belief and is reflected in the guardian angel, the fairy godmother and the patron saint […] The custom of lighted candles on the cakes started with the Greeks […] Honey cakes round as the moon and lit with tapers were placed on the temple altars of [Artemis] […] Birthday candles, in folk belief, are endowed with special magic for granting wishes […] Lighted tapers and sacrificial fires have had a special mystic significance ever since man first set up altars to his gods. The birthday candles are thus an honor and tribute to the birthday child and bring good fortune […] Birthday greetings and wishes for happiness are an intrinsic part of this holiday […] Originally the idea was rooted in magic […] Birthday greetings have power for good or ill because one is closer to the spirit world on this day.” – The Lore of Birthdays (New York, 1952), Ralph and Adelin Linton, pp. 8, 18-20.

Children these days are not being taught Yahweh’s feasts, laws and Commandments, instead being taught false heathen, witchcraft, and pagan traditions!
So, Holy people of Yahweh should NEVER partake in Pagan celebrations and traditions, it’s an abomination!

Here are 4 main reasons why celebrating Birthdays should be avoided:

#1. The Holy Scriptures themselves DO NOT put the practice in a favorable light whatsoever. There are but only TWO instances of the custom of annual celebration of birthdays recorded in the Bible, and on BOTH occasions THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED WERE NOT YAHWEH’S FAITHFUL WORSHIPPERS and the events of the celebration were obviously unrighteous!

#2. The custom of ANNUALLY celebrating ones date of birth is NOT of Bible origin!

#3. The Scriptures reveal in Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:23, 5:12, 19 and 1 Corinthians 15:22 that ALL human descendants of Adam are born IMPERFECT (fall short of Yahweh’s glory / grace). So there is no justified reason to celebrate someone’s birthday.

#4. The world we are ALL born into is ruled NOT by Yahweh THE Almighty, but rather, by Satan the Devil whom 2 Corinthians 4:4 reveals to be “the god of this world”, and who deceived the whole world, Revelation 12:9.

Only Yahshua was born into the world as a PERFECT / SINLESS human being (Heb 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22), however, absolutely NOWHERE IN SCRIPTURE will one find either Yahshua himself, or Yoseph (Joseph) and Miriam (Mary), or any of Yahshua’s followers partaking in the custom of annually celebrating Yahshua’s birth (in fact, the Holy Scriptures DO NOT even provide the date of Yahshua’s birth!)

If none of the aforementioned partook in the custom of annually celebrating the Messiah’s date of birth into the world and or their own birthdays… Why would anyone celebrate someone’s birthday, especially seeing it’s NOT BIBLICAL!

NOTE: There are those who claim that Job 1:4 indicates that Job’s children annually celebrated their birthdays, however, Job 1:4 DOES NOT apply to birthdays.

In Job 1:4 the KJV, NASB, NLT etc translations say “and his sons went and feasted in their houses”. Only the corrupted NIV translation uses the word “Birthday” in that verse.

The original language Hebrew does NOT say “Birthdays”. In the Hebrew Strong’s, the word is #4960, the Hebrew “mishteh” which does NOT mean “birthdays”, as Strong’s Hebrew says it means banquet, feast.

Job 1:4 reads: “And [Job’s] sons went and held a banquet at the house of each one on his own day; and they sent and invited their three sisters to eat and drink with them.”

“Day” in Job 1:4 translates the Hebrew word yohm and refers to a period of time from sunrise to sunset. On the other hand, “birthday” is a compound of the two Hebrew words yohm (day) and hul·le´dheth. The distinction between “day” and one’s birthday may be noted in Genesis 40:20, where both expressions appear: “Now on the third day [yohm] it turned out to be Pharaoh’s birthday [literally, “the day (yohm) of the birth (hul·le´dheth) of Pharaoh”].”

At Job 1:4, hullédeth *does not appear*; only yowm is used in the Hebrew text. So it speaks of Job’s sons’ doing something “each one on his own day,” not ‘each one on his own birthday.’

So it is clear that Job 1:4 DOES NOT refer to a birthday, as is unquestionably the case at Genesis 40:20. It would seem that Job’s seven sons simply held a family gathering (possibly a spring or harvest festival) and as the feasting made the week-long circuit, each son hosted the banquet in his own house “on his own day.”

It’s also important to note, even if the account at Job 1:4 were talking about his son’s birthdays, the Scripture DOES NOT mention Job attending! So Job NEVER attended a Birthday gathering, and Job NEVER approved of them! In fact, according to what is recorded at Job 1:5, Job prayed for them and was concerned that they had “sinned and have cursed Yahweh in their hearts.” In addition, they all died on one of the occasions, so even if it was a birthday celebration, (which it was NOT), we would then have not two BUT THREE birthday accounts of which were marked by people dying!

Everyone should avoid Unbiblical and Pagan Birthdays!

The World Book — Childcraft International says regarding “Holidays and Birthdays,” “For thousands of years people all over the world have thought of a birthday as a very special day. Long ago, people believed that on a birthday a person could be helped by good spirits, or hurt by evil spirits. So, when a person had a birthday, friends and relatives gathered to protect him or her. And that’s how birthday parties began.”

Origin of Candles on Birthday Cakes:

The idea of putting candles on birthday cakes goes back to ancient Greece. The Greeks worshipped many gods and goddesses. Among them was one called Artemis, the goddess of the moon. The Greeks celebrated her birthday once each month by bringing special cakes to her temple. The cakes were round like a full moon. And, because the moon glows with light, the cakes were decorated with lighted candles. The custom of lighting candles originated with people believing that the gods lived in the sky and by lighting candles and torches they were sending a signal or prayer to the gods so they they could be answered. When you blow out the candles and make a wish this is another way of sending a signal and a message according to these unbiblical origins![IMG]

More and more, though, people the world over attach a certain magic to their actual date of birth. . . when they blow out the candles on their birthday cake, they are encouraged to make a secret wish, and if they tell their wish won’t come true. This kind of act is not biblical, it’s more like witchcraft and sorcery!

It has also been claimed that the Germans invented birthday cakes, and celebrated birthdays with a cake called “Geburtstagorten”. The Germans were known to have been skilled candlemakers and may have put small candles on their cakes, possibly for religious reasons.

    Origin of Birthday Parties:

The earliest birthday parties in history were held because it was feared that evil spirits were attracted to people on their birthdays. At first it was only kings who were recognized as important enough to have a birthday celebration. To protect them from harm, friends and family would help celebrate their birthday by spending time with the birthday person, bringing them good wishes, thoughts and presents. This of course has NO biblical origin or foundation, and is nothing more than a false Satanic teaching!

    Origin of Birthday Hats:

Hats and noisemakers that people blow on, were used at birthday parties, with the thought that the noisemakers were also a way to scare away the evil spirits. [IMG]

Why do people say, “Happy birthday!” to each other?

“For the good wishes of our friends and relatives are supposed to protect us from evil spirits.” This in truth however is purely Satanic in origin!

Why do people have snappers, balloons, firecrackers etc?

“Party snappers, horns, bursting balloons, firecrackers, and other noisemakers are just one more way of trying to scare off any bad-luck spirits that may be hovering about.” So you can see, this form of practice is witchcraft and sorcery!

“One of the oldest birthday games is Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Donkey. A large picture of a donkey without a tail is pinned to the wall. Each child at the party is given a donkey’s tail made out of paper and a pin to stick through it. Then, one by one, the children are blindfolded. They are spun around a few times and pointed in the general direction of the donkey. The child who pins the tail the closest to where it should be on the donkey wins the prize.

“There are other versions of this game, such as Pin-the Nose-on-the-Clown or Pin-the-Ear-on-the-Bunny. But the idea of trying to guess correctly, while blindfolded, is the same.”

All these customs and traditions connected with the observance of birthdays have to do with guessing the future, good wishes for the future, good luck charms against evil spirits, etc. All the birthday rituals, games, and ceremonies are a form of well-wishing toward the birthday child, which are supposed to work their magic in the year ahead. This of course is Satanic, not righteous or biblical!

As we have seen, the custom of birthdays are totally Unbiblical! The ceremonies and games involve warding off evil spirits and protecting the birthday child from evil. These are evil customs – vain and foolish rituals — nothing but useless pagan SUPERSTITION and ABOMINATION against Yahweh and Holy Scripture!

On Herod’s birthday, Herodias’ daughter (whom Joseph identifies as Salome) danced before the king and his guests. Her dancing pleased Herod so much that in his drunkenness he promised to give her anything she desired, up to half of his kingdom. When Salome asked her mother what she should request, she was told to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. Although Herod was appalled by the request, he reluctantly agreed and had John executed in the prison.

Yahweh’s people should have NOTHING to do with ceremonies that trace back ancient pagan societies and pagan times, involving pagan and demonic practices.

And birthdays are part of SELF-IDOLATRY! Birthdays are unrighteous in ORIGIN and NATURE, self idolatry as well. Look at Paris Hilton etc, then spend millions on their OWN birthdays to glorify themselves as IDOLS!
