Wednesday, February 4 Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? —Matt. 24:45. Who are the domestics? Put simply, they are those who are fed. Early in the last days, the domestics were all anointed ones. Later, the domestics came to include the great crowd of other sheep. The other sheep now make up the vast majority of the “one flock†under Christ’s leadership. (John 10:16) Both groups benefit from the same timely spiritual food that is dispensed by the faithful slave. What about the Governing Body members who today make up the faithful and discreet slave? Those brothers also need to be fed spiritually. Hence, they humbly recognize that as individuals they are domestics just like all the rest of Jesus’ genuine followers. The responsibility of the faithful and discreet slave includes overseeing material assets, the preaching activity, assembly and convention programs, and the production of Bible literature. w13 7/15 4:13, 14
Hi All: The text implies that the Watchtower and the Governing Body are the "Faithful and Discrete Slave" that is dispensing food at the proper time and yet this is probably the driest, stalest food I have seen over and over on the menu of the "domestics". Perhaps it is what JW's needed a hundred years ago but is way past it's spoilage date. No mention of dates but the underling thinking in the text is that the last days have been in process for over a hundred years when in truth they either have not started yet or are just in their infancy as we speak. Is that really food at the proper time. It wasn't even true in 1914 and it is no more true today. The great crowd and other sheep did not originate in 1914 or anytime during the beginning of the 20th Century. The great crowd comes out of the Great Tribulation and many who the Watchtower counts in the Great Crowd have long since died, unless of course the Great Tribulation has already started 100 years ago and I missed it. Has the Great Tribulation started and I didn't notice? How about you? What do you think? So, if the brothers on the Governing Body are still operating under the silly premise that the last days started in 1914 and we are presently and have been for some time in the Great Tribulation (out of which the "Great Crowd" will come) how can they conceivably even be considered as the "Faithful and Discrete Slave" dispensing (good tasting and fresh) food in a timely fashion. I propose that the "Faithful and Discrete Slave" has not stepped onto the world scene yet but will in the future when we are indeed in the "last days" and at least on the doorstep of the Great Tribulation. Also, they will be led by the remnant of Christ's Bride which is not the case now. frank
