Again, here is another prophecy that follows it's original fulfillment. I've always said there is a reason Jehovah uses an original event to describe future fulfillments. All we need to do is look at the example of Judas to determine who this MOL is. He was a close associate of Jesus brothers who turned against them. "Man" of lawlesness, does that not mean what it says, that it's a "man"? "Son of destruction", this is the name used to describe the MOL in 2Th and as well the name used to describe Judas in John 17, why do you think that is? Should we not follow scriptural examples like every other prophecy in the bible? Is it not obvious that this MOL is a man and that history and scripture tells us that? 2Th 2:3; "and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction" John 17:3; "and not one of them is destroyed except the son of destruction," That seems pretty clear to me... 2Th 2:4; "so that he sits down in the temple of God, publicly showing himself to be a god." Now here, we all understand what the temple is today, and how someone could show them self to be a god. The chronology makes it impossible that this MOL could be Babylon as you say. Babylon is destroyed long before the disgusting thing stands in a holy place, and before Armageddon. Keep in mind that the Antichrist is thrown into the lake of fire alive along with the wild beast at Armageddon, and we know that Babylon doesn't live to see Armageddon. With all the evidence laying before us in scripture it seems that the intent is to show us the MOL is a "man" within the close association with Jesus brothers in the temple of the true God, and is revealed before the WTS even goes down. The Lords day will not come in fact until that happens first, and the Lords day comes 1260 days after the WTS goes down. So if the Lords day wont come until the MOL is revealed, and then the WTS goes down after that, the Lords day happens next, but Babylon isn't destroyed until even after that, after the Lords day...
2Th 2:8; "Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence" Zech 3:9; "See the stone that I have set before Joshua! On the one stone are seven eyes; and I am engraving an inscription on it,’ declares Jehovah of armies, ‘and I will take away the guilt of that land in one day.’ Zech 4:10; "For they will rejoice and see the plumb line* in the hand of Ze·rub′ba·bel. These seven are the eyes of Jehovah, which are roving about in all the earth.†Rev 5:6; "And I saw standing in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a lamb that seemed to have been slaughtered, having seven horns and seven eyes, and the eyes mean the seven spirits of God that have been sent out into the whole earth." The stone that is before Joshua and Zerubbabel is proof of Jesus presence at the start of the end. When the two witnesses see that first new moon of Rosh Hashanah (fulfilling their destiny), it's the stone that contains the seven spirits/eyes of God that will roam into the world from that moment on, until the end. It's the proof of that stone that shows Jesus is present and that the end is here. It should also be pointed out that in chronology, Satan is thrown out of heaven at this same moment. When Jesus throws out the "one acting as a restraint" (Satan) that is also the moment the MOL is revealed, and the stone before Joshua will prove that Jesus presence has arrived into the whole earth...
I know your arguments and Robert's, as he happens to share your views, and I'm not convinced. There's something that doesn't add up in your interpretations as a whole. Sorry ! I'm not saying that you're both wrong. I just disagree.
I don't think like the rest when it comes to signs dates and prophecy. let me tell you what I think will really happen. we will keep right on pointing at all the things brewing and say its coming its coming. the rest of the world will go on in its spiritual stupor like nothing is happening new. one fine day while we are going about our daily routine we will hear a loud horn sound and go outside to see what made it! and their in the Sky's as far as the eye can see will be jesus with army's of angels it will be over so fast we who survive will say. wow was that all? I quite looking for great signs of the end because its going to happen like it happened in Noahs day. Noah preached and preached then one day god said enough is enough then the rain fell . their was no big show hey people ! this is last call! the bible says that people will be eating and drinking and marrying! now if a host of bad stuff was happening you would probably quit the eating drinking and weddings and say hey this must be what those Christian people kept on about! no people it will be business as usual out in the world. but for Christians who are constantly thinking about the end Christ's return won't be a whoops let me get dressed event!
