I'm fairly new to being a part of the organization and this has been a question on my mind lately. I realize it might sound like I'm asking this flippantly, but I'm sincerely wondering if this has been addressed by the WTS. Perhaps this has been addressed in old threads, please feel free to point me to any you are aware of and can easily hunt down. :)

When it comes to their claim to be the "faithful and discreet slave," I am wondering how they consider themselves to meet the description of "discreet." Faithful, yes, I can see how they show themselves faithful in their own way.

But discreet? The dictionary.com definition of discreet in English is:
    adjective
    1.
judicious in one's conduct or speech, especially with regard to respecting privacy or maintaining silence about something of a delicate nature; prudent; circumspect.
    2.
    showing prudence and circumspection; decorous:
    a discreet silence.
    3.
    modestly unobtrusive; unostentatious:
a discreet, finely wrought gold necklace.
I suppose I don't see how they can make the argument that they are discreet. Between the massive publishing operation, the prophetic liberties taken, the huge online presence, the assumption of power and assignment by Jehovah... They don't seem very discreet to me.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what the text means here? Does it not translate well to the English definition?

I respect the GB and WTS for what they do and what they are. They're definitely vital to the current work being done. I am just curious if they have ever had an explanation for this. Honest question. :)

    Thanks, guys!

I can't agree with you more! If your the faithful discreet slave you are the quiet hardworking slave that gets the job done and keeps his mouth shut unless his master tells him to do something.

I don't mean to be disrespectfull watch tower society! But you remind me of big brunno the big bad prisoner that every one fears in jail and renders him tribute to appease his wrath! Not the faithfully discreet trustee that stays out of people's business and does his work.

    Hi all,

    Isaiah 5:
Woe to those wise in their own eyes and discreet even in front of their own faces.

Since the scripture @ Matthew 24: 45 is a question is it not presumptuous to call themselves discreet.

Based on Isaiah and other scriptures Jehovah discourages this sort of opinion.

I agree with jehovahisgod on this.

Jehovah and Jesus will put all of these things straight in their own time.

    Have a blessed day.

    Joe
