    Random update:

I go to meetings regularly, and this year I had a realization that "everything has changed"

    Interesting changes:

    - new book study method is "read the whole chapter straight through", then just 2 - 3 "review" questions.

From there the study overseer guides the discussion as we read through the cited verses / chapters.

This book travels through Jesus life sequentially between the 4 Gospels.

Initially, everyone in my hall was fairly stupefied ... "how do we do this?" ... without pre-written questions to answer, the verses guide the discussion.

I will say this is a great and welcome change once it settled in.

    - videos. Lot's of videos. Mostly silhouette actors doing the ministry or animations of Bible stories.

Before starting a new Bible book, there is a video played, which are great and you can (and should) view them here:

    https://www.jw.org/en/publications/videos/#en/categories/BibleBooks

    - locally, we are actually seeing some new faces, and from the mid-week meeting (where it's regulars only usually) is direct and overt statements to "not judge" people in regards to physical appearance. Lot's of tattoos and interesting hair out there ;)

These are some good changes, I must confess.

Yes some aspects of the midweek meetings have noticeably improved. I always liked the 10 minute talks gave some of the 20 something brothers in the hall a better transition towards the 30 minute parts than the old 5 minute talks.

Sundays aren't getting better though I swear the study articles get worse each week.

I wouldn't say Sunday is getting worse, just more "milk toast"; highly dependent on who is giving the talk too. Watchtower is becoming basic Bible doctrine too, I think.

Better than old JW doctrine about poorly reasoned prophetic conclusions eh?

I came into the "truth" during the time I like to call the militant period of the 90's. I'm not sure I could ever see the WT any other way, no matter the changes I am dubious... o_O

You are right the talks can vary week to week depending on the outline and a speakers delivery.

I studied the New World Order for a few years before I dived into the truth about the truth so I became pretty familiar with social engineering and have been very aware of it in most study articles for about three years which seems to grow more intense look at that article we had a few weeks ago with three paragraphs devoted to praising the governing body and just one small paragraph about Jesus. and it's a bit harder now as well because I've binge read the bible so much this year that whether an article or a talk if I hear a verse mentioned, read or quoted the entire chapter comes to mind in seconds so I'm immune and keenly aware of the false stylus if a scripture misapplied or taken out of context I know right away.

The organization didn't bother me nearly as much before 2013 I felt very uneasy for some reason when the revised NWT was released onward and that was when they began the process of exalting the GB.

I hear you, but read it slightly differently.

A humbling in process -- stage #1 is this softening (because of guilt and indecision), and actually, I would argue they are promoting the "organization" significantly less these days.

I like the 10 minute parts, too - gives the brothers practice at speaking.

I personally cannot handle the Sunday meeting - I can say in 5 minutes what it takes the brother to say in an hour.

I'm from the "old school" - I miss the days where the subjects discussed were more scholarly in nature, where the brother took time to explain doctrine and then presented the scriptural explanation to support this.

I use the time at the meetings to catch up on Bible reading or will sometimes slip an article on cars into my Bible and read that. Other times, I work out my shopping list in my head, mentally compose a work document or mentally figure out my tax return.

Social Engineering: That’s the new term for “brain washing”. It sounds more acceptable to the average person. Most of those being “engineered” are unaware they are victims. And, unfortunately, some don’t care.

Excellent point and completely agree. My description is "milk toast" with a focus on the "milk"

Ironically, "social engineering" as a replacement for "brain washing" is SOCIAL ENGINEERING! (brain washing)

This world system is driving me insane. Please, please Jehovah, send your son soon!

    Judge us in righteousness!

Even if condemned it's better than the irrational being presented as rational.
