I'm sorry I said so much in former posts, and upset a few. I'll cool it for awhile.

The one who posted the Assembly parts about Christ was right on about the need to share more about him. And there is a huge hole there that needs to be filled with the spirit baptism Jesus taught for all to aspire to. This is not being done there, obviously, so my spirit impelled me to respond accordingly, so as to round out what Jesus taught, in addition to his 'qualities'.

Thanks and peace to you all.

John I want you to know I do not doubt your sincerity...and I would bend over backwards for you ..if somehow it would help you see that leaving the org is not the way to go...if there was anything I could say or do...then truly..I would do it.
yet we both know that nothing I or any one here could say anything to change your view.
i am genuinely sorry for the pain and hurt you have experienced in the org....I wish I could undo the damage it has done ...we all bear scars John....you said you waited years for Jehovah to correct things....Jehovah has no intention of correcting what is wrong with in the org....he is allowing the society to come to the fullness of their error.....and then he will discipline them.
you were once my brother in faith..and I wish you still were...shoulder to shoulder and all of that.
yet personally for me ...it's impossible for me to keep my mouth shut when I see someone trying to influence ones away from Gods house.....you have been stumbled John...and I'm terribly sorry for that...it's a dam shame......but you in turn are hurting those faithfull battered sheep ......so let's leave it at this.

    Hi Dear Sister Thinking,

I am thinking that you misunderstand John S message here.

He is merely wanting to show the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus and Jehovah without the influence of the thinking of men.

The anointing spirit is a real thing and is available to all whom Jehovah allows to have it.

The watchtower organization claims to trump this and that all understanding comes through them - which is a lie and the deception that this causes is caustic to people of faith in Jehovah and Jesus.

We are all hanging on the best we can and desire to help one another to be faithful to Jehovah and Jesus which is what John is trying to say.

I wish to be encouraging and to have all blessed by Jehovah and so please do not become judgemental toward someone who's thoughts are for all of us to draw closer to Jesus and Jehovah.

May you have a blessed day.

    Joe

    No Joe...I didn't misunderstand Johns meaning...like I said ....I don't doubt his sincerity.....do I judge him.....no not him the man..as he's probably a lovely man....as I know you are.......do I judge his belief system...yes..as I believe he's wrong .

when Aaron was in the wilderness and made the Golden calf and called out to everyone..for we have a festival to Jehovah( concerning the calf ).... Would I have judged his belief system....YES!
there are times Joe..when one has to stand up and say firmly...this is WRONG.....STOP IT.
ANYONE who tries to persuade any of my dearest brother or sister away from gods house.....I will always stand up on their behalf.
So many of you say we are a sect.....I ask you.....were the Isralites a sect????
they prostituted them selves to false gods and ended up sacrificing their children ....yet were they a sect..????..

Was the Jewish system..the temple arrangement ... the Pharisees who killed Jesus a sect?...of course not...they were Gods house gone bad.
no different today...his house has gone bad...and we await his discipline.

even if one is wrongly disfellowshiped as in your case....and I am furious about such a thing should happen....yet even so.....for you or any one to encourage or say they need to get out of Gods house.....you are working against Jehovah and his plan.

i wish the both of you would humble yourselves and return to his house.....yes it will be hard...for you know you will never ever be reinstated as you cannot renounce what you know to be right......but it won't be for long..it is about to all be washed away...and Jesus will soon return to be our Shepard...
yet I know that is foolish talk on my part......but it is my hearts desire.

Joe and John S....please don't come here and put doubt in Jehovah's sheep about Gods house....or even hint about leaving...because you are both wrong ...and Jehovah will hold you both accountable for such actions.

I would just like to say to those who have been on this Forum for many years. I believe most of you know where I stand. One thing I have been, and learned, is analyzing writing, It goes back to my days in the military. When I realized the truths about what the government was doing and saying, I had to get out. I started working in what is described as engineering. That field of employment has various disciplines. The field I chose was in Civil engineering because of it’s variety. There is one thing about engineering. It requires a person to gather information and analyze all aspects of a particular subject.

You can’t be “willy nillyâ€￾, which means “with or without the will of the person concerned.â€￾ You have to be precise in your conclusions based on the facts gathered. If you don’t do that, there are serious consequences that can and will occur. If you are off by one number or a fraction of a number, the whole project will be bad. It could cost millions of dollars, or in the long run, cost lives.

I learned the importance of being precise. My wife and some of my friends say I’m “analâ€￾. My response it that “analâ€￾ is the beginning of analyze. That’s what I do. While in college, I also learned to check sources of information to see if they hold true. Never rely on what someone says. It’s likely wrong. I learned to write specifications for the projects I worked on. That becomes quite a task, especially when the boss, or project manager, financier, or contractor, wants to use certain words. They are usually specifically words used to favor those involved who will profit from the specs (specifications).

I was fortunate to have a professor who taught me how to learn. That was especially true when reading material with specific view points. Certain words are used. It becomes a certain code. Words are used to identify a course of thought, action, or belief. Religions are really good at that. There is what is called “a languageâ€￾ used by different organizations. Here is a known example: Notice the structure of how this subject was presented.

“Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?â€￾ Is that what Jehovah told Adam? I have a close friend that I’ve known for many years. They mentioned this to me in a question that was, “Why did God forbid Adam and Eve from eating from the trees in the Garden of Eden?â€￾ I said, “That’s not true! He told them they could eat from any tree. Except! There was 1 tree that belonged to Him. He said, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.â€￾ I also said that it was a misconception of many people who don’t understand the Bible, or what it says. They said that they had never thought of it that way. After all these years, they want to study with me. The date is still open. Any time, any where.

So. Did you notice how the serpent phrased that statement? He asked a question in a form that was not true. It was just the opposite of what God had said. Let’s cut to the chase, as they say. Jehovah’s Witnesses have a certain language we use when speaking about the Bible. A certain phrasing we use in discussing the scriptures, or the organization. I find that lacking in people who appear on the Forum and make claims about scripture and what it says. (Their interpretation) Phrasing such as; “their bibleâ€￾, “the WTâ€￾, “what is going on in the religion.â€￾, “Shamefully, WT has pulled a criminal switcheroo. . .â€￾etc. Those are not part of the language of Witnesses, especially supposedly from a person who says, “I discovered as a JW for 45 years.â€￾ How often have you heard a JW say or refer to WT? “I rarely say 'Jehovah' in my prayers, as it seems distant, now.â€￾ Really? “Now if God is in you....then you also are in God at that time, by association.â€￾ If God is literally “in youâ€￾, there would be no need to pray to him. You just talk to yourself.

There have been others that have come along and gave an appearance of being a “JWâ€￾, and have proven to be liars. I find it interesting that the avatar is a bald eagle. (Mt 24:28) This scripture is also misinterpreted by “Born Again-errorsâ€￾. That is why Jesus said to be aware. “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.â€￾ ( Mt 24:24 NASB ) That English word translated as Christs is from the Greek Christos meaning anointed from the word chrio = to anoint = enduring Christians with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.â€￾ (Mt 7:15 ESV)

    Hello Tsaphah,

Thank you for your view about my stand as a JW. It is much easier to abbreviate than spell out each time, no?

To clarify to all,...those who disassociate themselves, and even DF'd persons, are no longer JW's. That'a a simple fact. Some, as I too, feel and stated in writing, don't want to be known as a JW anymore, but only as a Christian. But the JW's (abbrev.) expect all these really yearn to get back into the org,...thinking they will be happy only then.

Not true. Really for me, that is absurd. I have left that all far behind 7 or 8 years ago now. I only want to worship Jehovah God in spirit, and truth, and I will not go back, compromise, backslide, whatever you call it.

I am more the artistic and musical type. I support myself in my later years, with music, and commercial art projects. Unlike an engineer, I listen to the music of the religion, and if the song is unpleasant, or against my beliefs, I am inclined to reject it as something to listen to as discordant as a sour note.

Also, as an artist, the picture can be mostly the artist's interpretation of life, or his feeling, emotion, and sense of color, or harmony and even contrasts in color and shape....actually sometimes artist are just playing around with colors and shapes...and these works of 'art', may actually fetch millions of dollars, while a realistic painter may more often run around with hole sin his shoes/jeans.

So...who is right when it comes to what we are called? What we believe? What we teach?

Easy. "You must have no other god's against my face. " Jehovah said.

Jesus said, " It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and him alone."

This is what I believe . JW's (abbrev., again)....do not have a monopoly on this. They cannot say, "We alone have the right to say who can worship Jehovah, because we came up with the idea, not you!"

    Do you think that?

I resigned with a letter stating I did not believe JW's were teaching what Jesus said to teach, and that I could no longer preach what they do. I shy away from their 'Theocratic language', becaue much of it is just their doctrine, which as Christ said, doctrines of men water down and make God's word inneffective, or invalid.

It is so easy to see some here will expose WT's teachings, and complain , and even write long oratory ('my use of the term 'letter' earlier) about what the scriptures say, but when others who have jumped the burning ship, although having been 'loyal' to the org for their whole life say the same thing, and attempt to help those seemingly wanting to get out because they're miserable....

then you turn on us like a fickle dog ...and try to bite our heads off.

We were thinking you were asking for help, that we may allieve your pain, and that the real truth worship is available, and being applied in hundreds of people's lives...all ex-JW's.

We don't come to lure you away to us as a new FDS....far from it. We are free to worship God, Jehovah, the Father, (as Jesus said, as he seldom used his Father's name, and never while in prayer, by the way, in spirit and truth. You, also, do not have to tolerate the abusive religion.

The true 'house of God', is not the Kingdom Hall, or any other church.

    Hear from the NWT,

"Coming to him as to a living stone, rejected, it is true, by men, but chosen, precios with God, you yourselves also as living stones are being built up a spiritual house for the purpose of a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God, through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:4,5

This language, that of those who have been anointed, is foreign, and obviously and understandably strange to your JW-tuned ears, because Jw's are trained to believe only in the 'earthly hope'.

    This, though, is not the 'music' Christ , nor the apostles and Bible writers played. The more you read the NT scriptures, the more in tune you get with the real song , mathematics, spec...what have you...that Jesus used in his teaching;

    "spirit, and truth".

So, my letter has been lengthy, but, could go a lot longer, if you liked it. If not, one can not read my posts. But, there are anointed here who use this site to aid others come to the truth. I bet they see what I write as much closer to the truth than what JW's, my former religion teach...although they, too, may be intimidated for fear of being criticized and ejected from this site.

Do you wish to DF all here who are anointed, Tsaphah, and Thinking?

    Eagle

    As for my bald-eagle logo.

When I first started posting on a pc some 5 or 6 years ago, I was lonely to find anointed JW's, and ex-JW's like myself, and I was alluding to Jesus' illustration, "wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will gather". ..from Matt. 24:28

This is why I had my son help me get that logo off the net, and set me up with it. My knowledge of the web is very limited.

But Jesus used this story directly after warning about false prophets and Christ's. He said the true sons of God, will gather at the real meat...the carcass. This is the truth, and that is why I picked any eagle that was available, who was eating a rotten piece of fish, there in the mud. It's not the best picture, sorry.

I may change that to something I draw myself, but it may not be as colorful as a photo.

“SYMPOSIUM: DO THE WORK THAT JESUS DIDâ€￾

    - Preach – Mark 1:38. Luke 4:16-21. Jesus used all opportunities to preach to people. Matthew 10:11. We would not want to stumble others in the ministry.

    - Teach – Luke 24:32. Keep the message simple. Be brief. Patiently explain points in a clear manner. People learn at their own pace. Matthew 4:23.

    - Healing – Matthew 11:28-30. Jesus was sent to bind up the broken-hearted. Isaiah 61:1-3. Proverbs 12:18. Galatians 6:1. “Readjustâ€￾ – setting a broken bone so that it heals correctly. Preach in a tactful manner. Shepherding calls should be made in a spirit of compassion.

This was followed by the baptism talk.

SYMPOSIUM: IMITATE JESUS’ USE OF POWER

    - Dear Young Ones – Proverbs 20:29. Luke 2:49. John 6:38. Jesus had perfect abilities. He wanted to serve his Father. Spiritual goals – learning a foreign language, pioneering, serving where the need is greater, serving at Bethel (although I wondered what was the sense in promoting this as a goal, when the Bethel members are being laid off.) Proverbs 23:26.

    - Faithful Single Ones – Matthew 19:11,12. 1 Corinthians 7:32-35. Have the circumstances to spend more time in the ministry and more time to focus on other people. Isaiah 56:4,5.

    - Precious Wives – Proverbs 14:1. Acts 13:50. Proverbs 27:15. Proverbs 31:10. Supportive role. Building up household. Work together as a family to meet spiritual goals. Proverbs 31:12,17,28.

    - Loving Husbands – Jesus didn’t abuse his headship over the disciples. Be consistent in the family’s spiritual routine. Hebrews 13:8. Show love when giving counsel or making decisions. Matthew 17:24-27. Jesus tactfully used questions to help Peter reach the right conclusions. Husbands should consider the opinions and considerations of other family members. Romans 12:10. Show self-control when handling disagreements.

    - Wise Parents – Mark 10:13-16. Jesus made time to talk to children. Time, energy and love are needed to build family bonds.

    - Kind Elders – Jesus cared for the disciples – did not abuse his headship. James 5:16. Active interest in the congregation. The goal is to have peace and unity in the congregation. Elders will be held accountable for how they treat the congregation. Ephesians 4:31,32. Consider the background and circumstances of each brother and sister. Don’t compare the brother’s and sister’s efforts in the ministry, against each other.

FOLLOW JESUS, BUT NOT “AT A DISTANCE

Fear of man – Peter’s example. Luke 22:33,54. Matthew 26:55,56. 1 Peter 2:21. Do I follow Jesus closely or from a distance? Proverbs 29:25. Peer pressure. John 19:38. Joseph of Arimathea.

Proverbs 13:20. 1 Corinthians 15:33. Jeremiah 17:9. Matthew 5:14-16. Baptised brothers encouraged to “reach out.” (I think that there must be a shortage in this area – this has been emphasised a number of times, from the platform and in the Watchtower study.) Matthew 12:30.

TRAIN, TRUST AND EMPOWER OTHERS, AS JESUS DOES

Learn how to delegate proper authority to others. Proverbs chapter 31 – the husband was willing to trust his wife with a wide variety of roles. Parental training – spiritual goals. Elders delegate to younger brothers. Jehovah delegated authority to Jesus (who became the master worker.) John 1:3. 2 Timothy 2:1,2. Timothy delegated to others. Husband delegate to wife – Proverbs 31:10-15.

What can hinder us from wanting to delegate? We may feel: “I can do it better.” “I don’t have enough time to train others.” “I enjoy doing the activity myself.”

Jesus only had 3 ½ years to train others in the ministry. He delegated to imperfect people. To train – Luke 8:1. Luke 10:1-11. Jesus trained his disciples how to preach and explained who he was. Husband should work with his wife and children in the ministry. Adapt family worship to the needs and abilities of the family members.

To trust – Luke 10:1. Jesus sent disciples ahead of him and knew that they would conduct themselves in an exemplary manner. Luke 10:16.

To empower – Luke 9:1. Jesus gave the resources and tools to get the job done.

SOUND DRAMA: “FOR THIS I HAVE COME INTO THE WORLD

    John 18:37. Matthew 21:23-46. Matthew 22:15-46.

ARM YOURSELVES WITH CHRIST’S MENTAL DISPOSITION

Ephesians 2:1,2. 1 John 5:19. 1 Corinthians 2:16. Colossians 3:15. Strive to develop the same mental disposition as Jesus. 1 Peter 4:1,2. Mental disposition – to be resolved and determined to do Jehovah’s will. John 6:38.

Devotion – John 2:13-17. Jesus cleared the temple of the money changers. He couldn’t tolerate this injustice. John 4:34,35. Luke 22:42.

Conviction – Matthew 4:8-10. Jesus resisted Satan’s temptations. Luke 4:13.

Compassion – Matthew 8:1-3. Miracle where Jesus healed the lepers. Jesus understood the nature of imperfection. Psalms 72:12,13. Romans 7:21-23. Galatians 5:19-21.

How can we acquire the same mental disposition as Christ? 1 Peter 2:21.

Fully devoted to Jehovah. Romans 13:14. We should not use the Kingdom Hall for commercial interests.

Fully convinced about what we believe. Romans 12:1,2.

Compassionate in dealing with others. James 2:15,16. Compassion moves us to take steps to help others. 1 Thessalonians 2:8.

The Imitate Jesus convention is one of the finest I've heard; more than half of the talks caused me to well up inside thinking about our wonderful Lord Jesus, what he accomplished, what he endured, and how HE alone is a perfect representative of Jehovah, the God of creation.

Even reading your summary makes me all misty WF :)

I'll see if I can find a version of it on youtube, in case anyone wants to listen.

... and those animated videos that were played each day ... truly a beautiful combination of music and scriptures.

These times spent hearing God's word preached are so important today, to have the fellowship and mutual up-building.

In the past, I would get agitated at how often Hebrews 10:24 was cited; but it's so true.

    Hi SingleCell

Yeah....I think the "Imitate Jesus" convention is one of their better programs. I wish that the GB would make more programs like these.

My memory is a little hazy on this.......but isn't there a thread on the forum where Utuna found a youtube channel where a brother posts recordings of the convention programs. Am I right in thinking that you have subscribed to it? (If I am remembering properly.)

Yes I have to agree..it was the most loving kind one I had been too....it was where the wheat in the org got their time to shine.......Jehovah will always help us out with times like this.
Just to be gathered together knowing so many if not all are struggling in this old world..that alone does something ..its powerful ..it makes ones heart swell up....as imperfect as we are..with all the problems going on.
It just does something to one....it encourages .

At the last big one...the sessions were uncomfortably long....a bit of same old same old ....and I inwardly moaned and groaned.
Then as we were in the car going home...we had to wait for this very old brother ...he must have been in his nineties ...so bent over with osteoarthritis that he could only stare at his shoes....hobbling along with his cane and bag...I wondered how he had coped..and the things he must have endured in the org....and I felt very ashamed of myself.
Wall flower...you always give excellent reviews..thanks so much for them...

    SYMPOSIUM: HAVE LOVE AMONG YOURSELVES

    - Be Patient And Kind – John 13:34,35. 1 Corinthians 13:4. Romans 2:4. Jehovah’s patience and kindness have a purpose. Luke 9:10,11. Be generous in assisting others with our time and energy. Show patience and kindness to brothers/sisters.

    - Avoid Jealousy And Bragging – Jesus was not jealous of Jehovah’s position. He gave credit to Jehovah. Matthew 12:15-19.

    - Repudiate Pride And Indecency – Psalms 113:4-7. Jehovah is the Sovreign of the universe. Is He humble? Jehovah stoops down to raise humans up and lifts up the poor and the lowly ones. Matthew 20:20,21. Jesus did not exceed his own authority. We can show humility to others.

    - Reject Selfishness And Provocation – Exodus 34:6. Genesis 3:15. Jehovah provided the solution to the rebellion in the Garden of Eden. He continually put up with the Israelites’ disobedience. Jesus’ miracles helped others. Matthew 27:41-43. Resisted provocation. Satan wants us to put ourselves first. Acts 20:35. How will our conduct reflect on Jehovah’s name? Ecclesiastes 10:4. How will our conduct affect others?

    - Do Not Keep Account Of The Injury – Psalms 78:38,40. Israelites continually disobeyed Jehovah. Acts 3:13,19. These people were responsible for putting Jesus to death. John 16:32. John 17:11. Jesus gave the disciples a mission. Matthew 28:19,20. Jesus didn’t hold their errors against them – showed forgiveness.

The speaker made this statement: “If we are dealing with major issues, we need to let go of anger and wait on Jehovah.”

I agree that this is a good piece of advice, in the context of, we are all imperfect and have limitations. It may be that we may not get along with everyone, owing to the variety of personalities and our natures and temperaments.

At the same time, I am mindful of the fact that this program was delivered a few months after the public hearings and interviews of the Australian Royal Commission into child abuse. At that point in time (and continuing for the next 2 years) the Australian Royal Commission is extending the invitation to anyone who is a survivor of child abuse to present their testimony. (That invitation extends to anyone who had an experience within any institution or organization within Australia.)

This statement could be viewed as “damage control” in this context.

    - Do Not Rejoice Over Unrighteousness, But With The Truth – Do we mock others or are we entertained by the suffering of others? 1 Corinthians 13:6. Satan taunts others. Luke 10:17,21. Jesus rejoiced at the success of others.

    - Bear, Believe, Hope And Endure All Things – Jehovah is confident that we can show loyalty to him. Jesus saw the true potential of the disciples – he made a covenant with them. Luke 22:28,29. Love is the identifying mark. Don’t be suspicious of our brothers’ motives. Hope for the best for brothers (not hoping to see them fail.) Willing to endure inconveniences. Willing to put up with imperfections of brothers/sisters.

    - Cultivate Love Which Never Fails – 1 Corinthians 13:8. Romans 8:35-39. Matthew 28:20. Jesus promised the disciples that he would be “with them for all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” Jesus showed love and humility.

Haggai 2:7. 2 Timothy 4:17. Satan and the demons confined to the abyss. Revelation 17:12-14. Anointed ones conquer the world. Psalms 37:34.

AS THE STORM APPROACHES, MAINTAIN YOUR FOCUS ON JESUS

Matthew 14:22-34. Hebrews 12:2. The account of Peter walking on water – when he became distracted, he began to sink. Isaiah 57:20. Zephaniah 1:14-18 - Day of Jehovah.

The speaker made this statement: “We should not prepare for the future by building shelters or storing food.” (The last time I saw a copy of the building plans for Warwick on the internet, I thought I remembered seeing tunnels marked out on the map. Or are they just there to connect the individual buildings? I will have to look on the forum for it.)

1 Peter 5:10. Dealing with difficult situations and also tests of faith.

Another statement: “We should not listen to media reports that cast a negative light upon us, or where our Biblical interpretation is questioned. Proverbs 14:15”

(Sounds like “damage control” regarding information about the Australian Royal Commission.)

Proverbs 14:15 reads: “The naïve person believes every word, but the shrewd one ponders each step.”

(Personally, I like verse 14. It talks about how those who “are wayward at heart will reap the results of his ways.” But that is just simply my opinion.)

Another point I want to mention is, that the Australian Royal Commission is not merely looking into some doctrinal dispute. The Royal Commission is examining the policies and procedures for handling cases of child sexual abuse. The welfare of our young ones is a serious matter.

Another statement: “We should not give into doubts. We should continue to concentrate on worshipping Jehovah.”

Matthew 6:19,20,24. Cannot slave for 2 masters. Romans 12:2. Matthew 6:33. Psalms 37:5. Dealing with anxiety issues.

I got confused with these next statements: “It is not our role to judge. Elders are not to judge. Their role is to keep the congregation clean. They are involved in the judicial processes, but their role is not to judge.” Huh????? Woot?????

Why then, is it called a JUDICIAL committee? Ya know, I think that there must be some judging happening during the judicial committee. The word “judicial” is a give-away…..just a wee bit.

(If the committee's role is to assist a brother/sister and provide spiritual support, then why don't they refer to it as a "shepherding committee?")

Another statement: “Stop doubting. What are you seeing that could cause you to doubt?”

Importance of being peace-makers in the congregation. Matthew 5:3. Zechariah 8:23. Matthew 28:19,20. Positive attitude. Jesus had confidence in the potential of his disciples – he entrusted them with assignments to care for. Revelation 6:2. Revelation 17:14. Proverbs 3:25. Proverbs 10:25.

Overall, I liked this program – lots of positive, encouraging information on how we can imitate Jesus. If the program follows that theme and just keeps to the Scriptures, then it is difficult to go wrong.

This year, we were in a smaller building so the crowd wasn’t very big. There were only a few brothers running around with the “Keep Moving” signs, on flimsy bits of paper. (There was a time when the “Keep Moving” sign used to be attached to a wooden handle. Now the brothers just hold up a bit of paper. Next year, I would not be at all surprised if the brothers hold up “Keep Moving” signs made out of “tissue paper/tracing paper.”

I was pleased to be able to catch up with a number of brothers/sisters that I know.:)

The “Keep Moving” score this year was only 8 – I was aiming for double figures, but I never got there.
