    God’s purpose in delivering the    [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] Israelites was to raise them up as[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] his people. [/FONT]    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif](Gen. 22:17)[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] God gave[/FONT]

    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]them a code of laws that would[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] enable them to enjoy a peaceful[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] relationship with him. [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif](Isa. 48:17, 18)[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] He told the Israelites:[/FONT]
    “[FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]If you will strictly obey my voice[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] and will indeed keep my covenant[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] [as outlined in the Law code],[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] then you will certainly become[/FONT]
    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]my special property out of all other peoples.â€￾ (Ex. 19:5, 6) [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]

    Thus, the    [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] Israelites’ enjoying a privileged[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] relationship with God was contingent[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] on their obeying his voice.[/FONT]

    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]Just think what life would have[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] been like if the Israelites had[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] only obeyed God’s voice! Jehovah[/FONT]

    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]would have blessed their fields,[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] their vineyards, their flocks, and[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] their herds. Also, their enemies[/FONT]

    [FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif]would have had no permanent[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] hold on them, providing concrete[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma, sans-serif] proof that obedience to the[/FONT]
