Its feet were partly of iron and partly of molded clay.

    —Dan. 2:33.

A prophecy in the book of Daniel describes an image in human form that represents successive world powers. The final world power is depicted as the feet and toes. This indicates that no other human world power will appear on the scene. During World War I, Britain and the United States forged a special partnership. Yes, the fifth part of Daniel’s image is the Anglo-American World Power.

That the feet and toes are made up of iron and clay pictures the weakened state of the Anglo-American World Power. The same prophecy indicates that God’s Kingdom, pictured by a large stone, was cut from the mountain of Jehovah’s sovereignty in 1914. That stone is now hurtling toward its target—the feet of the image. At Armageddon, the feet and the rest of the image will be smashed.
    (Dan. 2:44, 45)

Thus, the Anglo-American World Power will still be the dominant world power when Armageddon strikes. How thrilling it will be to witness the complete
    fulfillment of this prophecy!

  2. Hi All:

This is totally wrong! The Anglo-American power will give way, not to the Kingdom of God, but to the eighth king. The Watchtower makes the incorrect assumption that the "stone" cut out of the mountain "without hands" is the Kingdom when that is not true. Mountains depict rulership, but we can not and should not conclude that just because the Bible mentions a mountain that it automatically means God's mountain. It could just as easily be cut from the mountain of man's rulership and the ones who cut the stone out, could very well be the demons who have been cast down to the earth for the final war, which also satisfies the requirement of "without hands". Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 both depict a "world government" that takes over the whole earth "before" the establishment of the Kingdom of God that is fierce and unrelenting in it's horror. That sounds like the "last horrah" by Satan the Devil, not the Anglo-American world power.

“This is what he said: ‘As for the fourth beast, there is a fourth kingdom that will come to be on the earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms, and it will devour all the earth and will trample it down and crush it.+ 24 As for the ten horns, ten kings will rise up out of that kingdom; and still another one will rise up after them, and he will be different from the first ones, and he will humiliate three kings.+ 25 He will speak words against the Most High,+ and he will continually harass the holy ones of the Supreme One. He will intend to change times and law, and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.*+ Daniel 7

Has the Anglo-American power devoured the whole earth? They would like to, but they have not. Also, do you see 10 kings ruling with this world wide beast yet? Has another "horn" come up and humiliated three others yet? No, I didn't think so. There is a monstrous world power left to come to power and we have not seen this yet, but are about to.

It's interesting that Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 speak of this last world power, but they do so in slightly different ways. In Daniel 7 they are seen as distinct beasts unto themselves that come up out of the "Sea" in succession, but in Revelation 13, although it describes this "beast" (singular) with the same qualities that describe the four distinct beasts of Daniel 7, having the qualities or appearance of a "leopard, bear, lion and horrible beast, it is mentioned as a "composite" beast in Revelation 13. To me, this depicts the same beast but in four distinct manifestations that happen in a rather rapid pace, say over months of time as opposed to years or decades or centuries of time.

This to me portrays a power struggle among the demons who will vye for power in these last days and the beast will quickly transition in power from the lion with the eagles wings (anglo-america) to the influence of the Russian Bear, to the leopard of the Eur-Asian power of the BRIC nations who will take over the monetary and political system of this earth for a short time, finally culminating in Satan's world government that is depicted in Daniel 7 as trampling down the "whole earth".

Yes, the feet are the Anglo-Americans and the "stone" that is cut out of the mountain "without hands" will be a plot originated by the "cast out" demons who will attempt to destroy man's attempts at world government and establish their own. The ten toes of the image of Daniel 2 are the same as the 10 kings that rise up with the beast "for a short time", but their stay will be short, especially three of them, and all of them will finally be put out of their misery by the Kingdom of God. Look for the destruction of the Anglo-American political and economic system very soon. That will be the signal that the "Kingdom of God" is very near. It's destruction will be from a plot by the demons and then finally by God's Kingdom, in that order.

    Plausible Frank!

But not likely, in my opinion.

The entire point of that prophecy is that Jehovah is going to establish a kingdom and 'smash' the current world system, in fact, that is the sum-total of all the prophecies in a grand sense. (Psalm 2 is a nice summary)

Also the corollary prophecies in Daniel 7-9 and Revelation 13, 17 indicate a 'little horn' rising from the last national group as an image of it's progenitor, rather than a foreign entity coming from outside the realm of man.

The WT is correct in my estimation, other than the 1914 reference, since it squares with the principle of interpretation established in related prophecies.

    Hi SingleCell:

Prior to his being "cast down to the earth", Satan the Devil and his demons have ruled mankind by their influence from the heavens and from the angelic realms. But since being cast down to the earth, like in the first Century, he is confined to the earth and to possessing humans. Satan and his demon angels were not just confined to the earth, they lost their ability to live as angels, they are now human, possessing human bodies like they did in the first century and they have no doubt taken the bodies and minds of those in power, as they are power hungry beings.

Read Daniel 7:4 with this idea in mind and you will see this scripture from a whole new perspective. I am not sure that you will see it as you are clearly stuck in the Watchtower-centric view of the scriptures.

“The first one was like a lion,+ and it had the wings of an eagle.+ I watched until its wings were plucked out, and it was lifted up from the earth and was made to stand up on two feet like a man, and it was given the heart of a man. Daniel 7:4

The beast which has the appearance of a lion and the wings of an eagle is the Anglo-American world power just before and just after Satan was cast out of the heavens. For a time, he was still influencing the Anglo-Americans while an angel in the heavens depicted by having "eagles wings" and flying high above the earth. But that has changed in recent times and he is now standing "on the earth" "with the heart of a man", because he is no longer an angel but is human, along with his demon horde. We will soon see the evidence of his human condition as he unleashes his assault on mankind in the form of this "fourth beast".

When the Anglo-American power is dethroned by the stone that crushes the feet of the image in Daniel 2, (whether this comes as a false flag or not), we will see the increased influence of the demons who are now controlling those in power in Russia, who are depicted as the "Bear". Not sure who or what the 3 ribs are but Russia will at least talk about "eating much flesh", whether they actually do, is not said in the scripture. At this point the power of this system will change again, this time in favor of the beast that has the appearance of a leopard. Leopards are most commonly found in Africa and Asia, so this depicts the rise of the eastern BRIC nations, the four heads with the four birds wings (not eagles operating from a power base in heaven) but high enough over the earth to exercise as the scriptures say "dominion". These nations are Brazil, Russia, India and China and they are already on their way in establishing a new financial and political system of their own that will eclipse the West.

But, all this will happen rather rapidly, culminating in the "fourth beast" mentioned in Daniel 7 that will become dominant over the 'whole earth' as described in Daniel 2, 7 and Revelation 7 in a reign of terror never seen before in mankind's history and will never be seen again.

This, and only this is the world power that will be overcome by the Kingdom of God, not the Anglo-American power. The Anglo-Americans have done enough to destroy themselves, they do not need any help from God's Kingdom. In fact the same ones who are leading the U.S. and the U.K. will no doubt make up part of the cabal that will administrate this fourth beast, most of them being possessed by Satan and his demons. Think singlecell, wake up brother!

    This is from the NIV:

“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.

This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.

I'm just not seeing it! The 'vision of the rock' breaks the 5 kingdoms up, and is a 'kingdom' which will never be destroyed.

The 8th king comes out of the 7, a 'little horn' which remains for a short while, and is an image of the decapitated 7th.

Now you could argue that the rock is the 8th king, who breaks up the 5, and is then destroyed .. but that seems to me like a 'formula' breaker.

  6. Hi SingleCell:

When you quote a scripture, you must be sure that you are using it in the proper way and in the correct context. Let's test this out and see if you have made a costly mistake in interpretation of this verse, a mistake which many have made, myself included in the past.

“And just as you saw the feet and the toes to be partly of clay of a potter and partly of iron, the kingdom will be divided, but some of the hardness of iron will be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with soft clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 Just as you saw iron mixed with soft clay, they will be mixed with the people;* but they will not stick together, one to the other, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom+ that will never be destroyed.+ Daniel 2

Now what or who is described by the expression "those kings"? Is it the procession of kingdoms that are represented by the entire image? If so, "the days" of those Kings would amount to millenia literally. Or, is it referring to the toes of the feet, that are partly of iron and clay? That seems to make more sense and fits the context of the scripture much better. It also is in harmony with the support of Revelation 17 where we are informed that 10 Kings will rule with the wild beast just before it's ultimate demise.

“The ten horns that you saw mean ten kings(these are the toes of the feet of Daniel 2) who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings for one hour with the wild beast. 13 These have one thought, so they give their power and authority to the wild beast. 14 These will battle with the Lamb,+ but because he is Lord of lords and King of kings,+ the Lamb will conquer them.+ Also, those with him who are called and chosen and faithful will do so.â€￾+

So, it is the ten kings or ten horns which appear with the wild beast (the eighth king) which is the fourth king of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 and is represented as the "toes" of the feet" of the image in Daniel 2, which are one and the same as the kings of Revelation 17. Does that make sense, and does it fit the context of all the scriptures? Yes it does.

I agree with your last post Frank!

The ten kings are probably European nations, since they are directly extend from Rome or Roman territory. (my opinion, the 7th day adventists have some good documentation of this component)

The 'anglo-American', or maybe more aptly said, the European-Roman-American union would be the whole iron / clay mixture, possibly.

The three plucked out by the little horn, who knows .. at this point at least.

I'm only contending the idea that the 'stone not cut from human hands' is the 8th king / demonic plot, which Daniel 2 sufficiently explains (my opinion) to be the kingdom of God :)
