From the scripture quoted below, Is it safe to assume that angels are involved in some way with the handling of prayers?

    Revelation 8:3-4
    New International Version (NIV)

3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.

    Hi Gabriel,
From these scriptures, it appears that there are angels assigned to handle certain prayers. In this case the NIV translation mistranslates “... the prayers of all God’s people, ...â€. The Greek indicates it is the prayers of the “electâ€, hagios, holy ones, and not ALL God’s people. It is speaking of those who are responsible for caring for the others in the congregations of God. This is similar to those mentioned at Rev. 1:4, 6 and a future time to come. Rev. 1:10 indicates this as, “I was in the spirit on the Lord’s day,†So these events are future. The angels = messengers = envoy = one who is sent. A representative of all those who worship the true God.

Whether these are resurrected holy ones, we will have to wait and see. For today, we will have to have faith that no matter how or when we pray, Jesus will represent use before his father. It appears that there are angels that handle our prayers considering Mt. 18:10. We must also realize that sometimes the answer is No. Our prayers are always answered and never ignored. (Mt. 21:22)

    Hi Gabriel

Good question - and it is not an aspect of the angel's duties that we hear much about either - it's not given a lot of attention in the publications.

Tsap, I was thinking about your answer to the thread yesterday where you said

"Whether these are resurrected holy ones, we will have to wait and see."

I think we can rule out the chances of the ressurected annoited performing this duty of offering up the prayers of the "Hagios" to Jehovah, because the annointed will not become angels when they are ressurected to heavenly life because they are considered a "new creation" are they not? They will become something thats more elevated than angels....something far more majestic.

With that being the case it does make one wonder how does this angelic duty of offering these prayers of the Hagios work along with Jesus Christ being mediator for all of mankind....or is there a difference here?

here is more qustions, when the man possed the qustion about the 7 brothers who all married the same women jesus said you are in error because you dont understand the resurection they will be like the angels neither marrying or being given in marriage..so all these people being resurected are to be like angels? hmmm perhaps the 7 day adventist explainations needs a more close look. they beleive that all christians will be caught up to meet jesus in the air at the last trumpet..and by the air they mean the new city jeruselum that will be within earths atmosphere about 2 thousand miles cubic! the 144000 will teach and direct all christians who will be housed within this city for 1000 years we will have a body like jesus had after his resurection so that no temptations of the flesh will bother us while we become what jesus is going to make out of us! the earth below us is to be purged as the bible says by fire wipeing out all disease, wicked man, jehovah will recreate a new perfect earth while christians watch. after earth is habitable people will do as jesus instructs presumably cultivate and organize it after which satan and the demons get released for our final test.I cant evan guess what that test would be but my guess is that he will use his famous invitation to leave the protection of our now perfect glorified bodies and enjoy unlimited sensual pleasures by lowering ourselfs just a tiny bit to become perfect flesh. you can bet he will quote gods original purpose was to have children and fill the earth, and you can bet many will say yes thats what jehovah created us for anyway to enjoy a paradise earth..but take care and look at all those empty planets, my guess is jehovah wants to asighn everyone a world to build...that dosent mean for a minute we wont be able to come and go from the new city jeruselum at will and continue our freindships...we will not be sent to create our own rules and be god of our own world as the mormons beleive ! but Im sure jehovah is going to invove us in some work far beyond eating good food, perfect sex and perfect babies, so again take care when satan gets out of prison knells down before jesus and says to man jehovahs idea original plan for earth was for me to be your servant! yes watch out indeed

    Hi Gabe,

Jesus is the mediator along the lines of what is written in the following verses :

"For we have as high priest, not one who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested in all respects like ourselves, but without sin." - Heb4:15

"Who is he that will condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died, yes, rather the one who was raised up from the dead, who is on the right hand of God, who also pleads for us." - Rom8:34

"Consequently he is able also to save completely those who are approaching God through him, because he is always alive to plead for them." - Heb7:25

Regarding prayers, the HS can also become an intercessor :

"In like manner the spirit also joins in with help for our weakness; for the [problem of] what we should pray for as we need to we do not know, but the spirit itself pleads for us with groanings unuttered. Yet he who searches the hearts knows what the meaning of the spirit is, because it is pleading in accord with God for holy ones. Now we know that God makes all his works cooperate together for the good of those who love God, those who are the ones called according to his purpose;" - Rom8:26-28

    Rom 8:26-28 - ESV

"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

Regarding the angels, their duty isn't the same as Christ at all. However, they're not here just to "carry" the prayers up to heaven to God :

    Heb 1:14 - ESV
"Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?"

Please see also the Rom8:28 quoted above in that regard.

    Hope it helps.
