"Someday Soon" - Judy Collins There's a young man that I know, his age is twenty-one Comes from down in southern Colorado Just out of the service, he's looking for the sun Someday soon, going with him someday soon My parents cannot stand him 'cause he rides the rodeo My father says that he will leave me crying I would follow him right down the toughest road I know Someday soon, going with him someday soon And when he comes to call, my pa ain't got a good word to say Guess it's 'cause he's just as wild in his younger days So blow, you old blue northern, blow my love to me He's driving in tonight from California He loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me Someday soon, going with him someday soon When he comes to call, my pa ain't got a word to say Guess it's 'cause he's just as wild in his younger days Blow, you old blue northern, blow my love to me He's driving in tonight from California He loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me Someday soon, going with him someday soon Someday soon, going with him .....someday soon

Here is a song by Woody Guthrie titled Deportee. It came to mind yesterday with all the deaths in El Paso, Texas. For those unfamiliar with the Braceros, they were Mexicans and other central American farm workers, who came to the United States to work on the farms, planting and picking crops. This song was written about the plane crash January 28, 1948, near Los Gatos Canyon,in Fresno County, California. Lyrics by Woody Guthrie and music by Martin Hoffman. It was considered to be a protest song about the way these hard working people were treated. They were robbed of their money, put on a plane and sent back to their home country. The crash resulted in the deaths of 32 people, 4 Americans and 28 migrant farm workers who were being deported from California back to Mexico.
