The Watch Tower has always claimed to have been the International Bible Students, and later changed its name to the Watch Tower. The International Bible Students are still around. I spent some time on their main forum. Their thinking is still that of the 1916 group, and much of the teaching of Russell. On the main page of the site listed below under history, this section tell the story: Bible Students Are Not Jehovah's Witnesses.

What the IBS had to say back then is certainly interesting and may contain long lost truths but there is nothing therein to write home about and certainly nothing to sacrifice ourselves and our families for ! That is nothing like what we all usually call "the Truth" !

If a tree is bearing bad fruit, taking a branch from that tree, and growing another...the fruit will still be bad. Both are doing nothing more than
using religion to make money. When those at the top retire, or are put out(sic) do you believe they leave with nothing? The Bible Students are following the dead Russell like he was Gods right hand man. If the members of this forum start a new branch from the Watch Tower...can it bear good fruit?

    Domenic,

What kind of fruits do YOU bear ? That is the real question ! Why do people always need to compare things with the WT before deciding what to do or not when it comes to religion ? Let the WT do what they wanna do, let the dogs bark and do your job ! Who cares about the WT ? We're talking about people and people's lives, feelings and pains. People say that they loathe the WT but they are always talking about it and basing their behavior according or contrary to it. Let go of it ! Let them let the WT where it is and do their job, their Christian job ! Aren't there other relevant things to do when we are Christians than making comments, reacting and over-reacting about each and every little thing that the WT does or says ?

Everywhere in the Bible is explained that there would be weeds among the wheat, wolves among the sheep and so on, and yet, reality dawns on many people who suddenly look like deers in the spotlight, wondering what's going on...

One week ago, you said this :

And now, those who choose to remain among their brothers because they have understood that there were more important things than knowledge are deceivers ? If you still believe that they are God's people and that the GB aren't bad men, why such a speech against it and against Josh because he merely wants to have a part in his congregation that lives up to his personal understanding of what the truth really is ?

Besides, the kind of message that you instill in people's minds and hearts is deleterious because it may fall in the ears and hearts of people who are psychologically or spiritually fragile. They may not have respectively the wits or the spiritual strength to stand up to the hardship they're going through and such calls may well only add sufferings upon sufferings... It's easy to tell someone to leave the WT but will you be there to take care financially, physically and spiritually of the people who get disfellowshipped overnight by stupid elders because they wanted out whereas they don't have a clue about all the ins and the outs of such a decision and situation ? Will you tell them : "Pray God for help and leave me alone now, it's not my fault if your JW relatives are stupid !" ?

I have no JW relatives. I have no relatives. Yes I believe the JW's are good people. They love Jehovah. Is the Watch Tower a cult? Yes. Can I help any of them see the truth? No. The cult is strong. Only Jehovah can take those out he wants, and he will not lose one sheep. Do I think the leaders of the WT are bad? No, the are also victims of Satan who is behind all religions.
Why do I post on Joshuastone7 threads? Because he knows the WT is false, and has said it will fall. He has also said he will be there when it falls so he can help the people. Only Jehovah can help the people. What Josh is doing is nothing more than the other hundreds of forums who are claiming to help JW's, and ex-JW's...only to lead them in a direction they claim is right. He is showing he either is called by Jehovah to save his people, or he has no trust that Jehovah will save his people. I have been a servant of Jehovah for over 50 years, and in all of that time I have spent in a study of the scriptures. I am not alone in how I believe the scriptures, nor am I a JW baser. It seem Josh is setting up his own religion. On all of my post, he has said, "Just read the bible as it is written. Jehovah says to reason the scriptures, not just read them.
Have I attacked Josh? No. Most of my reply to him is a reply to his comments on my post. If any here believe Josh, or any man is assigned by God to lead his people, follow them. As for me, I follow only Jesus, and yes, I do reason on the scriptures. I may have many things wrong, but if any can show me were I am wrong, use other scriptures that explain the ones I use. Jehovah will bring his truth out to those seeking it.
If three members want me banned from the forum, post who you are and I will leave you to follow what you will.

I don't have the time right now to give a thorough answer to your post.

It has never been question of banning you. Gabe is a respected and beloved member of this db and is entitled to express his opinion. Run-ins with newcomers are frequent... no biggie ! Once we start knowing each other, things usually become smoother... :)

You are a a fan of bloviating about people, when you know nothing of them.

    Egg on your face...

Let me give you another history lesson, this seems to be a regular thing with you. And in the end I know you still wont understand, and you will still take offense to something I said that had nothing to do with you, but anyway...

Did Jehovah come down and scoop up Noah's family with his hands, place them on the moon, and then replant them after the flood?

Did Jehovah come down to Egypt and talk to Pharaoh, and tell him to let his people go?

Did Jehovah come down, or any of his angels and split the red sea to save his people? Regardless of where the power comes from, did they do it, or did they have someone else?

Did Jehovah, or any of the angels go to Nineveh to warn the people of the coming destruction. For that matter did Jehovah or the angels warn those before the flood of the coming disaster. Did Jehovah or the angels teach the news of Christ to the world?

Did Jehovah or the angels return his people to Israel on the any number of occasions they did?

I could go on and on and on and on. You see, because Biblical history shows that God used men to accomplish his goals. Yet you say Jehovah will save his people on his own. Hmmmmmm...

You know what this also shows? You don't know your scriptures, let's go back to them, what do you say?

Dan 11:33 "And as regards those having insight among the people, they will impart understanding to the many."

Hmm, that doesn't sound like Jehovah is going to come down here in person and depart understanding to the people, then who does it say will???? I know, this must be rocket science.

    Let's keep going, okay?

Rev 11:3 "And I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days dressed in sackcloth.â€￾

Who was it that was to save Gods people? Surely you believe Jesus, right?

Mth 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.â€￾

So, he causes his two witnesses to prophesy 1260 days. Do you know who these represent? Do you know where in the Bible you can find that information? Surely this isn't Jehovah and Jesus walking about on the earth meeting with people and encouraging them to follow them.

You see sir, I am in fact called by God for a purpose (as you proposed I thought), but I doubt you know what that means, let alone would slow down enough to figure it out.

So it would seem your at a crucial point here. It's quite possible Jehovah's spirit brought you here, but no one here knows everything, and in fact I can't think of anyone here that agrees with me on a whole lot of anything as it pertains to prophecy, but you see, this is a place for learning, we have no room for those who know it all already. We either learn that, and adopt it, or there is no place for us here.

This place is a bit like a library, and the Librarian is Christ Jesus.

The last humans appointed, were appointed by Jesus. Are you saying you have been appointed by Jesus, and, or Jehovah to lead his people?

lol... Just as I figured you would respond, hook line and sinker... You don't know the scriptures at all compared to your big head, and big talk.

Math 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

And by the way, that is your own personal interpretation. You have no idea what Jehovah is doing in the world, and don't say you do.

    Josh,
you never answer a question. You always seem to dance around it does not prove out as a reply. I will ask it again.

Are you saying you have been appointed by Jesus, and, or Jehovah to lead his people? Are you a prophet of God Jehovah?

Just a simple yes, or no.

You debate like a politician, not a servant of God, you should never demand another to respond in a way you wish, you lose credibility.

I have nothing to answer, the first statement was by me, therefore my answer was in my statement, "I was called".

I have no idea what your talking about.

Like I said Josh, you don't answer question, you dance around them with double talk. If you believe you are appointed by Jesus, and, or Jehovah give a yes, or no to the question...or did Jesus, and, or Jehovah ask you to keep it secret?

If you knew what that scripture in Mth 22:14 meant, you wouldn't be continuing to ask this question. I have no idea what your using this word "appointed" for, our what your meaning of it is, if one asks what I think I answer with truth, I was called.

It's your lack of scriptural understanding that holds you back and exposes you before all here, as one with a lot of personal interpretation, and little scriptural fact.

You made a statement on this thread:

" You see sir, I am in fact called by God for a purpose (as you proposed I thought)"

Still you have not answered the question. The last humans called were by Jesus when he was here on earth as a human. Why now out of the billions of people has GOD JEHOVAH called YOU? Can you prove it? Even Moses had to prove to the people God called him? Moses had a staff that turned into a snake. Do you have a staff? or even a stick that turns into something?

Your answer is in my statement, I have already told you. The problem your having is, you have no idea what the scripture means. That's where I would suggest you start, what the scripture actually means.

The scripture you said to read: Math 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

Are you saying you have been chosen by God( you did say God chose you) to be one of the 144,000, and that is why whatever you say a scripture means is correct, and anything anybody else says is wrong? Is that the train you are trying to get me, and others to buy a ticket on?
