The human genetic family line leading to Jesus Christ is 75 generations. (Lu. 3:23-38) If we go to the beginning of this line we find Adam. (Gen. 1:27, 2:7) He did not have a name as we consider names today. He was called by what he was and what he was made from; the earth. Also, his name described what his appearance was. He was red. The first “red manâ€. Earth/ground, in Hebrew, is ‘adamah, which comes from the root word ‘adam, meaning red. (Ex. 25:5; Isa. 1:18) It is also translated as man. (Gen. 6:6; Ex. 4:11; Nu. 5:6) There is a field of study called Genetic Determinism which is defined as “The theory that human CHARACTER and BEHAVIOR are shaped by the GENES that comprise the individual's GENOTYPE rather than by CULTURE; ENVIRONMENT; and individual choice.†This may be why only certain individuals are specifically “named†in the Bible record leading to the messiah. We find that Adam and Eve “had other sons and daughters.†(Gen. 5:4) Others in the genetic family line are stated in a similar manner. (Gen. 5:6-30) These lead to Noah and his sons, Shem. Ham, and Japheth. After this, the sons of Noah are listed, but only Shem’s genetic line is listed with specific ages and names that lead to the messiah. Could it be that certain genes determine how spiritually aware a person will be? Read the description of Genetic Determinism again. Character, and behavior shape the genotype, rather than any other aspect such as culture, environment, or “individual choiceâ€. Kind of makes you wonder, doesn’t it? “Faith, it is said, is better than belief, because belief is when someone else does the thinking.†- Mitch Albom, “the first phone call from heavenâ€
"for when they had not yet been born nor had practiced anything good or vile, in order that the purpose of God respecting the choosing might continue dependent, not upon works, but upon the One who calls" - Rom. 9:11 I remember having read beautiful thoughts in that regard recently but I have to retrieve the paragraphs so I can quote them because they beautifully phrase and illustrate what I think about it all. In a nutshell, God's purpose is bound to be accomplished, no matter what Satan and/or men may do or not do... Jehovah always finds a way to achieve his ends... always !
