I was reading this scripture recently - Jesus gave Peter the assignment of "feeding the sheep." He had confidence in Peter that he could do this assignment and he could see Peter's true potential - could see past the imperfections.

At the time Jesus was arrested, Peter denied knowing him 3 times. Jesus didn't hold that against him, and knew that was human weakness.
