Very good reasoning. You know I think there is a lot to learn about Jehovah in the following verses.

Joel 12-14; “Yet even now,â€￾ declares Jehovah, “return to me with all your hearts, With fasting and weeping and wailing. Rip apart your hearts, and not your garments, And return to Jehovah your God, For he is compassionate and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love, And he will reconsider the calamity. Who knows whether he will turn back and reconsider."

This verse is speaking about a moment deep within the GT. In fact this is after the 42 months of captivity end. This is after Jesus is enthroned and after holy spirit is poured out. This literally is just days before Armageddon. So you see, it is all of mankind that he wants to survive.

To me this shows his compassion for us all...

    Hi Joshua,

I certainly agree with you that Jehovah is compassionate and wants all to be saved as pointed out in the verse in Joel

Perhaps Peter had that verse in mind when he said:

    2 Peter 3:
8 However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9 Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance. 10 Yet Jehovah’s day will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a hissing noise, but the elements being intensely hot will be dissolved, and earth and the works in it will be discovered

Just as Jehovah spared Nineveh after their repentance who knows for sure how many will be spared at armeggedon. A great crowd no man can number. But sadly there will still be a fullness of dead bodies of those who will not repent.

    Have a blessed day.

    Joe

it is interesting that you mention Nineveh jonah was sent to preach the message that in 40 days Nineveh would be destroyed. they repented and Jehovah postponed that destruction.. Jehovah's witnesses were sent to say that Armageddon was expected in 1975. millions repented and was baptised and Jehovah postponed revelational events.. god wants as many saved as possible. and if it takes the threat of doomsday close by to make people take notice than so be it! the bible does say that fear of Jehovah is the start of wisdom. if a person does not yet love god but runs into the ark because he feared the gathering storm that's a good start. he can now be told that god cared enough about you that he had an ark made and scared you inside because he loves you and doesn't want you to die! its like herding sheep the Shepard cares for his flock and he uses force and fear sometimes to chase the sheep into a safe place so that the wolfs don't come and eat the ones seperated from the flock.
