It's coming along... You get a real appreciation of how many details were involved in the original construction. This is one of those things that I will get use out of, if nothing else it's an interesting meditation tool...
About 20 years ago, a coworker of mine making studies of Art History at the University and who was from Bordeaux told me that he had seen there once in a famous bookstore a life-size copy of the Hammurabi stele.... Wow ! Well, this has nothing to do with the tabernacle but I love seeing copies of what may have made daily life in biblical times... Source Source
You can not use this product: it does not have the imprimatur of the Watchtower. You know very well that everything that comes from the world is the work of Satan, and those who do these things believe they serve God, but in fact, not matter whether they have a greater faith than Abraham, or that they have a sincere love for the Bible and for God, they are in reality only servants of the Devil. (at least, that's what we've been taught for years …)
lol... Do you think this model would fall under some WT banned regulation? That would be funny... The WT doesn't understand the meaning of the details within it anyway. Not having images is tied to the worship of images, not models and art. But, the WT I'm sure disagrees. This project has been a wonderful one spiritually...
In his book, Ray Franz recounts that the library of the Bethel is full of biblical books and encyclopedias that nobody dares to consult because they are produced by members of the "false religion". Karl Klein used to say that it was like "sucking at the tits of Babylon the Great" (in page 23 of Crisis of Conscience). Many JW refuse to listen to Gospel because they are religious songs, even if the lyrics are quite suitable and exalt God or Jesus. They would not buy toys representing biblical scenes, but they would not be scrupulous about collecting the Watchtower's cartoon characters.
You make a couple of good points, it's taken me decades to loosen up enough to even listen to other evangelists, Christian music, what have you, because that mentality has been with me for so long. That's probably why I enjoy projects today like the one above because I have matured spiritually, beyond the governing body. I still will not observe Pagan holidays, but after reading an article by one of our brothers, my thoughts on birthdays have changed, and may observe some young ones B-days... Isn't it interesting the JW's will not have any depiction of a Biblical scene, but will fill their houses with Watchtowers that are full of such art? Again, it's taken me years to get out of that mentality, and honestly it took knowledge in order to do so.
