I’m afraid that there are many people who have been misled, or misguided, into thinking that there is one major individual to be identified as “The Antichrist”. Wherever this idea developed is likely the same place as “The Rapture” came from. Actually, it came from those whom Jesus mentioned at Mt 24:5, 11, 24, and Mk 13:22. There will be many, not just one! Re-read 1 Jo 2:18-22, and 1 Jo 4:1-6. Then re-read 2 Jo 1. Read it with context. The apostle, prophet, John, is the only one who mentions, or uses the word antichrist (Antichristos). John also uses the word “deceiver” (planos) in his second letter, associating it with those who are against the idea and teaching that Jesus is the Christ. What does John say about them? “. . .but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” ( 1 Jo 4:3 NASB ) Every spirit = every breath, thought breathed, idea, teaching, that is from the world; This system of things (kosmos). How do we know that? “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” ( 1 Jo 4:4-6 NASB ) Who are they? Scientists, Evolutionists, Geologists, Biologists, etc, etc. They say, “How can you believe that stuff? It’s all myths and fables! It’s been proven that the earth is older than what the bible says! There is no way that the universe and earth was created in 7 days. Hogwash!! Jesus raised from the dead? Ridiculous!” The falsehoods are taught in the schools and universities around the world. They say, “We have disproved it all!” You hear their arguments everyday. It is constant! They are the antichrists! They deny and do not acknowledge “that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God”. They are the many! It is nothing new, They were there in the time of Jesus and the apostles. “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?” ( Mt 13:55 NASB ) The apostle Peter reinforces this thought in his second letter. “First of all know this, that in the last days ridiculers will come with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires and saying: ‘Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as they were from creation’s beginning.’ For they deliberately ignore this fact, that long ago there were heavens and an earth standing firmly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; and that by those means the world of that time suffered destruction when it was flooded with water. But by the same word the heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for fire and are being kept until the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly people.” (2 Pet 3:3-7 NWT) Yes, they even deny that the flood actually occurred.
Amen brother... I think the the main reason people think the Antichrist of Rev 13 is a person is they connect the MOL in 2Th 2 with this entity, where there is no precedence in doing so. As well again the little horn of Dan 7 or 8 with the MOL without any direct connection...
