Thanks for that Utuna Regarding the 'typical antitypical' idea, I noticed that you didn't make a rebuttal regarding Jesus' excellent words at: Mt. 24:21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. Mr. 13:19 for those days will be days of a tribulation such as has not occurred from the beginning of the creation that God created until that time, and will not occur again. As I mentioned up the board, "One has to make a choice. Does one accept the point Jesus is making, or does one seek to belong with a school of thought for the sake of belonging?" The typical-antitypical ideas have been a school of thought for many years, one which I no longer belong to. I made the choice to stick with Jesus. Concerning the two scrips you mention, Mt 17:17 talks directly to the "generation" that he was referring to, His own generation, thus demonstrating His disposition towards it. There is nothing in the statement He makes at Mt 17:17 that lends to another "generation" over 2000 years later as being involved in anything related to the fulfillment of the 'Temple Prophecy'. So I am not sure what point you were trying to make with that verse. Perhaps you can elaborate. Regarding 26:36... Not sure what that was all about. Did you mean Matthew 26:36? 36 Then Jesus came with them to the spot called Geth·semʹa·ne, and he said to the disciples: “Sit down here while I go over there and pray.” How is this verse related? How does one read the modern ideas about Jesus' discourse and get the idea that these modern ideas are what Jesus intended for his handful of disciples listening to Him 2000 years ago? Would they have come to the conclusion that Jesus was teaching a 'typical-antitypical dual fulfillment' while He at the same time said 'never had and never will again'...? Mr 13:19
Hi Apocalypse ! Thanks for your answer. I'll write a reply the sooner possible. I made a mistake, one of the verses I meant was Mat. 23:36, not 26:36. I've modified the post I wrote accordingly.
I I thought you had mad a typo on the number. Good scrip. Regarding your post. I wholeheartedly agree. The "generation" is long gone, "crooked and twisted" as it was. I'm hoping someone will reply to the points I made, other than the "generation".
This is just my perspective on this, but what if Jesus simply meant to define the "generation" by his very next statement? "Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away." If we take what he said in his second sentence, he is saying all these things will occur without fail. Then what he simply meant is all these things will occur before the generation that sees them passes. Basically saying that all these things will occur without fail before the final battle. The generation that sees these events will not pass until all these things will occur, and that is the main point of Jesus in that not one word he spoke will go unfulfilled before they pass. Ish 55:1 "So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results, But it will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight, And it will have sure success in what I send it to do."
